Greetings, everyone. I made it! In fact everything has gone very well. We arrived at the hospital at 5:30 Monday morning. We got checked in and my pastor and his wife were there to see us off to the presurgery area. The nurse took me back and got everything going. My doctor came in and we had prayer together, then the anesthesia guy came in and said he was going to give me something to relax me and just like everyone said, the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. I was in surgery from about 8 to 10:30 and arrived in my private room at 12:15. My wife, daughter and 2 administrative assistants were there to greet me. My son who works at the hospital (cardia cath lab) was there within a few minutes.
My surgeon came in Tuesday morning and said everything went perfectly. He spared both nerve bundles and did not take any lymph nodes. He said I had a strong spinchter which should bode well with incontinence issues. The catheter hasn't given me too much trouble and I'm now sitting in my recliner at 11:30 AM Wednesday having gone home after only 2 nights in the hospital. I have been passing gas like crazy since early yesterday which they wanted me to do. They changed the dressing on my incision this morning and everything looked good and then they removed my 2 drains and off I went.
Thanks again to everyone - you helped me through all the way. I'll check back in after I have my follow up on the 13th to have my foley and staples removed. We are supposed to get the pathology report at that time as well. David
