Hello again my Friends!
Got my bone scan result yesterday and all is well - thank God!! Going to meet with Dr Fagin, who does the Robotic Surgery, in Austin on Wednesday to hear what he has to offer.

Another Fagin fan checking in, here, KrisP.

We were impressed from the get-go and his followup concerns for all areas of recovery are amazing.
His team is incredible and the hospital (and staff) is so nice, you won't want to leave.

Don't leave any stones unturned when asking questions - he'll give you all the time you need. And will be honest about his recommended approach.

GreenAcres, I saw Dr Fagin did your surgery per your signature. Do you live in the Austin area? The reason I asked is I live in DFW area and if I chose to do the surgery in Austin with Dr Fagin, (approx 3.5 hours drive from DFW), if I would be able to make the 3.5 hours drive home after being discharge from the hospital.

Kris, I had a two hour drive home and I had both the Davinci and open surgery. The ride was no problem for me. I rode home in a pick-up truck which help because the seats are up right and I could lean it back if I wanted to. I would recommended using a regular collection bag, that is, not a leg bag and put the bag on the floor. This will give you more capacity and makes sure the bag is low enough. Ask for instructions on how to take care of the catherter. and make sure they give you a leg bag for later.

KrisP - we live about 90 miles east of Dallas. The Interstate between Dallas and Austin is quite bumpy (and always under construction) and, for us, it was a painful ride home in spite of pain meds.

We stayed over an extra night after discharge, which made it a little better. All in all, 3 1/2 hours isn't that much and you could probably do it fine after discharge. Plus, there's the advantage of being back in your own bed.

Great news on the bone scan. And you have chosen a very reputable surgeon. You will be in good hands. I used to live in that area as a kid, and worked for a company 16 years that is headquartered at the Bush highway and 114. Starts with an N has three letters in blue, along the 114. Been back and forth a hundred times. Anyway, good luck and be well. God Bless you in this journey. Stay close.

Thanks everyone for the needed advice.
I will have my wife and daughter with me who will be sharing the drive back home. Most likely I will be in a Honda Passport SUV and my wife is a PRN and knows to take care of the catherter. I will mention to her about having both of them available.

TC - I work 5 minutes from 114 Hwy and George Bush Tpk.
