had biopsy

hi everyone, well i had the biopsy on this past mon. i was 10th out of 22 people that day. my dr has a money machine. he owns the bldg with another dr. they do prostate kidney stones and whatever women get done because it was packed with them too. it was like a mini assembly line. little bed wait your turn have some juice thx for coming. well anyway i get my results this mon the 16th. i get a call this morning from the dr's office. im shaking like a leaf. the nurse says hi sir we have bad news. my heart is in my throat. she goes on the dr has to cancel your appt. on monday he has jury duty. Im telling you i almost had a stroke you cant make this stuff up. my wife wanted to go down there with a bat. man this is crazy.

nope she told me they would call to reschedule the appt. But there was even more to that conversation that i left out. when she said jury duty. i flipped out."jury duty i said what if he is on a murder case for 6 months do i have to wait till its over"? sir your being unreasonable, she said.i told her "i dont care if his grandmother is sitting in the room with my chart i will be there at 315pm mon afternoon for my results. sir she says we will call you when we know the dr's availability thx click. if this was ant serious you would laugh your butt offf like it was a comedy sketch.

True, we or at least our insurance pays the bills but good luck in getting the results without the doctors okay.  I been there done that. You may get lucky and some nurse takes a chance but otherwise be prepared to wait.

Hi Rick,

1st I hope that your biopsy is negative. I would call my primary Dr.s office on Monday morning and have them request the results from the pathologist that read them for your urologist. One of the worst parts of dealing with cancer is we the patients always have to play the waiting game. I think we should be able to call the labs and get any test results on our body as soon as they are done, instead of waiting until the Dr. has time to see us and charge us for a follow up visit. I guess this is so the medical field can have more control over our time and money.

Sorry to sound loke such a complainer but waiting does get frusterating.

rick, sorry to hear about them putting you on hold like that. very poor patient management. it brought back memories of my own bad experience. my doc called me to let me know i had cancer and apologized for telling me on the phone but that he was leaving the next morning for a 3 week vacation! "try to stay calm about it" he told me, and "i could make an appointment when he returned."

in that three weeks, i found this site, and had appointments with 2-3 uros and a radiology oncologist. i will tell you that finding this site was more helpful than any of the dr. appointments in maintaining a rational perspective and becoming informed about prostate cancer. there is no better group than this one to support you until you know and after if you still need support.

i'd get your path report and move on to find another doc. sounds like your doc's a bit clueless to the human side of practicing medicine.
