I am wet anytime I am standing. Dry when I am sitting or lying. I have developed a terrible ichy rash in the diaper area. I shower at least 3 times a day, let it dry out at night, used antabotic creme, have tried babby powder and cortozone. Nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

I've been fighting diaper rash on the head of my penis for a while. Tried A&D and Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Bought some Balmex at the doctor's recommendation and I'm trying that now. It might be better. I also have a tube of Desidin (sp?) ready to go if Balmex is not the answer.

If you are leaking a lot (as I am), one train of thought is to NOT decrease your fluid intake. If you decrease your fluid intake, your urine becomes more concentrated, and more acidic and therefore possibly more irritating to your skin. I had a light rash for something like weeks 1, 2, & 3. Then I was OK for weeks 4 & 5. Then, maybe my internal swelling went down (just guessing) and I started leaking more, probably drinking less, and I have been battling the worst rash (for me) during weeks 6 & 7.

Just my unofficial thoughts & experience.

Debbie who used to work in a hospital nursery( and we have lots of grand kids), says make a paste with corn starch and maalox and apply to the affectec area.

I used KY jelly on the head of my penis and Boudreaux's Butt Paste on my scrotum.

Try using Triple Paste it works better than A&D for a rash. You could also try Monistat but the Triple Paste is heavier.

For severe diaper rash the best solution is BALMEX. Its the zinc oxide. This is a creamy, non-greasy diaper rash cream. Easy to use and does the job. I bought the 16oz tubs and used it liberally. You need to keep the genitals coated all the time. All of this will eventually pass. It will definitely take care of your itchy rash problem.

I concur on the zinc oxide diaper rash ointment....  worked for me back then.   Was out of that one time and Bagbalm also did the trick.

Nurse Annie agrees totally! Balmex is the nurses best friend, usually works on everything! If nothing seems to do the trick, consult your m.d. because even some diaper rashes need a prescription med!

And the winner is.....

Desitin (for me anyway). I've tried A&D, Boudreaux's, and Balmex. But the winner for me seems to be Desitin (sp?). This stuff is thick, creamy, and sticky. I think part of my problem is that the pad wipes everything else off so fast that it does not matter (and I might be fighting skin rubbed raw as much as rash). Desitin is like putting tube paint on your privates. It is sticky and it does not go anywhere. After just one day I am feeling much better.

My wife, the medical researcher says she has come across a formula for mixing Desitin, A&D, and some kind of powder that the nurses said was magic. I can try to obtain that if anybody is interested.

Try a product called Carilsta (sp?)...made with tea tree oil.....kind of messy, but works great!
