we found this site a few months ago and I decided to briefly write our story and share information since I am the writer in the family - My husband ( now 55 yo) was operated by laparoscopic surgery 02-04 by Dr. Guillonneau at MSK. Gleason 7 3+4 and PSA was up to 6.8 prior to surgery. We went to other consult at Moffitt Center in Tampa - but decided on MSK due to updated procedure at that time. Infection due to cathether caused secondary brief hospitalization with IV antibodic therapy. All PSA have been great. However, incontinence continued past the time that we were told it would decrease. We went to the urology department at msk but was not impressed. We basically kept on waiting to see if the condition improved. We saw another urologist who impressed upon us the importance of getting my husband's sugar levels down and eliminating all caffeine if AUS would be considered. Pad use was at least 10 pads a day ( we never weighed pads ) Condition worsing in the afternoon and evening hours ( almost no control after 2 pm ) Upon consult for AUS - Doctor spoke about Advance Male Sling - discussed pros and cons - we read articles which spoke about now using the Male Sling for patients like my husband who were first not considered candidates for this surgery . My husband was operated on July 15, 2008 at Tampa General by Dr. Ordoricia, who is also affilated with Moffit Cancer Center. He did not have much pain after the surgery and since the operation is dry unless he sneezes or coughs with a full bladder. We hope this information can help others Mrs D
