  hi guys lemonlime here i need your help again . i am 5 weeks out of robotic surgery , my wife was goin to paint the bathroom i said ill do it . well i am having pain on the left side of my insicion neer navel . i was getting better with incotinence 5 pads a day ,and i could last pretty much all day 8 hours with 2 . now i feel like im leakin like the cath just came out . do you think i may be just pulled something or is this norm with physical activity . i am walking about 2 - 3 miles a day but thats it for moving or twisting , hope i didnt screw up . any help appreciated . as always thanks gentelmen ... lemon lime ...

Lemonlime -

Being 5 weeks post op it probably is all right to paint the bathroom.  You are probably just using muscles you have not used in awhile.  You might want to take it easy for a few days and see how you feel.  Sounds to me like normal stuff.  If you are still having problems in a 3-4 days call your doctor.

Hi Lemon Lime,
I would keep monitoring it. One side effect of surgery could be hernia. Another just like John just said simple strain. But if it hangs around you should let your surgeon know. Good luck to ya!

    Not being a Robotic Guy the only thing I would have to add is that the only thing "Less Invasive" about the Robotic Surgery is how they get inside.  It is still a major surgery.  I kept a strict watch on what I did for the six week healing time.  I also eased back into things for a few weeks after that.  Just listen to your body and let it heal.

Love the name Lemon Lime, we all have some pretty cool handles around here. I would agree with all the guys posting here it is probably normal so just take it easy for a few more days and see how things go and if the trouble lingers by all means let your doctor know.
Most of all keep us informed my friend because we do care.

Take it easy Lemon Lime....Im sure you will be fine..., just lay low for a week....You are just shortly out of surgery , you know...men seem to think that they can jump up and run around....Your body has had an assault to it.. Our friend, a physician, said any surgery takes the body several months to recover,,,,..let it recooperate..Your body will heal itself. Good luck and keep in touch. Di

I would add two things. The leaking comes from being on your feet and the twisting / straining required to paint. I have found that I can remain basically dry until I start doing work on my feet. It is hard to concentrate on keeping the bladder locked down, and twisting, turning, straining at the same time. Second, I think you may be a little ahead of yourself at five weeks. Things are not quite healed and the stretching may cause you some setback.

Hang in there! I think what you are having is normal, but if pain gets worse or continues I would contact the good doctor.
