Do I get the Flu Shot or not? I havent in the past, figured based on my age did not think it was necessary.

Thought it was more geared toward people much younger and older.

But since being diagonsed should I get? Real Question that I am concerned about would getting the flu increase chances of reoccurence?

Interesting question.

I don't know how to answer that except point out my experience. I used to be the guy that looked at someboby with a cold or flu and I got it too. Since I had a severe cold just before surgery, and have only been ill once since. I don't know if the HT does this, or the fact that my body isn't loaded with a cancerous prostate anymore, but no colds or flus.

On the other hand, the HT and heredity shot my blood pressure through the roof over the last year and a half. Once to the point I needed to go to the emergency room. While I have that under control not, I guess the flu was less dangerous.

My suggestion? Get the shot. No reason to fight a flu if you don't have to.

Yes, you should get the shot. It will protect you from this year's influenza virus. The flu, not just a cold, is a miserable illness and is responsible for killing a sizeble number of people every year. Now, please understand that the flu shot may not prevent you from getting colds or virsues that are not addresseed in the flu vaccine. The flu shot will protect you from the strain of the flu represented in the vaccine. You will do yourself a great favor by increasing your resistence to this year's flu. As always, check with the medical provider giving the shot. But under most instances, the recommendation is to get the shot. Best.

I got the shot this past weekend. Nurse said having had PC surgery wasn't an issue.

FYI - got my shot at Tom Thumb/Safeway grocery store.

$28.00 for the shot and you get 10% everything in your shopping cart. (not counting beer and smokes)

Since I work in a large medical facility, administration strongly suggests we get a flu shot. I asked my UCSF doctor about it and he felt I should get it. The healthier I stay, the easier it is for my body to fight off other stuff.

Amen, Califguy. Your doc is right. Flu shots are very important to get. I am glad this thread of notes is here. Some people think they should not get a shot, or that it will make them sick, or that it is for other people. The flu shot is right for everybody, especially for those of us with compromised health conditions like prostate cancer. Flu shots are available now in most states. It's a great idea for folks here to go get one. As per always, check with the medical person administering the test or your doc to make sure that it is ok. In most instances, people should get them. (and, nope, i don't work for the flu vaccine company!!)
