Hi all, I'm new to the site. I have a couple of quick things. First, I saw a comment/question by someone I believe it was "Rick"? Wanting to know if anyone had the laproscopic procedure. I did, on September 8th. I am very pleased with the outcome and my progress. I had the Robotic procedure done at UCSF Hellen Diller Comprehensive Cancer Center by Dr. Konety. He is one of the top in the nation and an expert at this. He did complete nerve sparing, which brings me to the second item, my question. I was so amazed at the immediate level of sensitivity, that through gentle manipulation, achieved an orgasm, (one week after surgery!). Of course, thinking that was a "good thing", continued to experiment. The orgasms continued, but have since gotten much less intense and much harder to achieve. I'm thinking too much too soon? BTW, only "very partial" erections. Not much in that area yet. Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks! Chuck

Though I've not yet achieved an erection - being only approx. 22-days post-op and into my first week of cialis / MUSE, I have experienced orgasm . . . out of curiosity.  I don't expect to be trying to achieve orgasm too often in the near term, but it was reassuring to know that such a thing was possible, and what it feels like under the circumstances.

Chuck, do you have a pump? If not you should look into getting one..It helps in the healing process.

Welcome Chuck!

You are one of the gang from Helen Diller @ UCSF. I am about 9 weeks out from surgery and doing very well. I can get erections on my own that are usuable. With Viagra, they are the same or better than before surgery. As far as orgasms, I have found sometimes they are intense and other times feel great but are not earth shattering. Just let time go along. Things get better. I suddenly got times better this week with bladder control. It was acceptable before, but this week I suddenly got control back like I was before surgery.

And although the erection /orgasm process is different than it was before, I actually think it is possibly better. My wife comments how much longer I last and with out any ejaculate, there is no mess.. :-) .

So be patient, hang in there, and keep in touch!

Yes, it is possible to orgasm with a complete flat tire (as I know!) However it is very hard work. I find it a lot easier with an erection -- a pump is a good way of achieving that.

A penis pump works by creating a seal on the pubic area, and when pumped, it creates a vacuum inside the cylinder, pulling blood into the penis, creating an erection. This infuses blood, stretches the cavernous cavities, and keeps penile tissue and function working while rehab is going on in regaining natural erections. It is used in PCa patients to do the same repair and building that is was done by nocturnal erections before losing the erection ability. Using a pump with silicone rings will hold the blood in the penis, allowing for intercourse in most cases. Most patients here will start the pump therepy at about 2 months post-surgery and continue until function is regained.
