Results of first PSA after surgery

Went to see my doctor and for my 2 month check up and my first PSA test after Aug. 11th surgery. The results were great <0.1 Wow what a relief. The doctor was pleased as were my wife and I. I called my 3 childern to tell them the good news. I still have some incontinence issues.I use 1 pad a day, I Leak when I forget to kegel when I am lifting or working. Its been getting better. Ed has not been an issue I am still taking 25mg of viagra at night as per doctor orders. My next appointment is 1 year from now. I am thankful to all who wrote to me and helped me during the past 3 months. Your support , prayers and kind words helped my wife and I greatly. This site and the people are #1. I will continue to view and  keep in touch with all.  Best wishes and prayers to all.

Great News!!!! Surprised at the next visit not until next year. Thought it was standard practice to go back every 3 to 6 months for first 1-2 years.

Hi Jeff,

 

Congratulations on your post-op test result. You seemed to have come thru your operation with flying colors. I'm just a bit surprised that the interval for your next PSA test is 1 year! Most guys are being tested every 3 month for the first year and after that every every 6 month for at least another year. Oh well, what do I know. Live and learn I guess.

That is excellent news. Nothing like the news that you are a zero post op. Don't you disappear on us now though. Remember that this great site is based on collective experience, wisdom and information gathered by a very wide range of members whose input is what makes the site so valuable especially to newcomers. If your post op recovery has proceeded well and he is happy with your progress there is not a lot of reason to see your surgeon over the next 12 months..........but I certainly would not be happy to have that length of time between PSA testing at this stage. If he has not arranged that you have 3 or 4 monthly tests over the next year then I would make sure it was done myself via my G.P.

Great news. I would question why you didn't have to go back for another year. Most people go for 3 to 6 months for follow-up PSA tests.

Thanks again for all your support. I will continue to have my PSA tested every 6 months and seeing my primary doctor.
