I've also enjoyed our little talk the other day. Hopefully you can make the trip next year to my part of the woods.

I hope that you will do very well for many years to come.

 

And Puget,

I sincerely hope that you will not need RT treatment next year, but if you do, I hope you live in part of the world where you'll have several choices as to which RT to select. Tony is a good man to consult in these matters.

All the best to you and hopefully the small increase in your PSA is just a little blip in the endless chain of zeros.

That's a good plan. Being proactive is something I keyed in on. For my two cents worth, IMRT was painless and I had but a little fatigue. If you have to go there, it's rather uneventful. You'll do great!

Hi Magaboo, I wish you the best.

I am afraid I am heading in the same direction. When I saw my urologist three weeks ago, he mentioned that my last PSA (Sept 8) was 0.01 and everything looked very good. I asked whether it was <0.01 but I don’t remember getting an answer. I always request a copy of my test results. Last week I received them and it is actually =0.01. I am trying to e optimistic, but I can’t help thinking that it will keep rising. I started trying to find more information about treatment options and that’s how I found out about this forum.

Just a quick update for those that are following this post. I was MRI'd and tattooed today. No date jet for the start of the RT, but probably towards the end of Oct.

Another quick update for those that are interested. I'll be starting my first of 33 salvage EBRT sessions on 31st Oct., 08.

Any helpful suggestions are, as always, appreciated.

Good Evening all,
Magaboo, I just got my tattoo's Wed. of this week. My IGRT will start 11/17. I think they have a pretty good backlog of treatments where I will be going. My Doc said it would take 2 wks to get the plans in order. Keep this post going so we can keep up with everything and know what to expect! You have my prayers and well wishes also. Good luck with your 1st day.

dsmc, my starting date for my EBRT has been changed to 3rd of Nov. Not sure why, but got the call today.

I'll keep my fingers x'd for you on the 17th Nov.

Thanks for the update. I was thinking about you this week and almost rang you again. Don't be surprised if you hear from me again soon. You too, have just passed your second anniversary as have I and wow, what a last couple years! We have a great club here, but the entry requirements suck! LOL. I have no regrets when I meet wonderful people and this site is no exception. Neither are you.

Thanks for your post. It's always nice to hear from you guys. As you can see in my last post, my RT is now scheduled to start on Monday, 3 Nov. and should be finished in the middle of Dec; just in time for X-Mas. So, I have one more weekend to ponder and worry about the outcome of this step in my journey. Since I really don't have any other choice, I'm anxious to get this over with and deal with the after effects as it becomes necessary. Anyway, hope all is well with you, David and everyone else on this forum.

Hi to all that are still following this treat.

 

I now had 7 radiation sessions, out of 33 scheduled, behind me. The total number of grays that I'll receive is 66.

So far everything went quite smoothly and I have no side effects to date. The hardest part is having to drink 20oz of water before each treatment. My PSA, two days before the start of radiation, was 0.1. So, hopefully I've started this phase in my journey early enough.

I'm sorry for not posting more than I did in the past few weeks, but the travel to and from the hospital every day, the procedure itself, worrying about possible side effects etc. didn't leave me much time and enthusiasm for posting. Hopefully, if all goes well, I'll get more involved with posting again in about a month or so. In the mean time I do a lot of lurking here :-) .

Story is the same its the rise and fall of the PSA that differs 17 months out after Da Vinci a rise was found going from .1 to .2 within two months.
I chose to have Proton Radiation @ Loma Linda Medical Center in California as Radiation was the next best option in the Prostate Cancer chain of events as it were. Age seems to be an important factor in battling this slow? growing disease fifty somethings and below I have experienced along the way seem to have a more aggressive approach and as of last comments by some AMA seventy-fives are looked at as not needing anything ? Geesch!
its close to a Year after Radiation and My better half is questioning further PSA's what could they accomplish that they haven't already tried? well I do hope your group discussions IE Cancer Teem is successful in whatever therapy you decide.

Well I got in the saddle today and had my first treatment. Boy getting all these bodily function to act on command is going to be a blast..lol....but it will be alright. I hope you are making it well up in the cold country. Hang in there. I will catch ya'll later

Glad to hear that you've had a good start in your latest journey. I know what you mean by the 'bodily function' thing. I'm a little over 2 weeks into my journey and I'm getting used to the routine. So far, so good. No side effects thus far, but I'm expecting for things to happen any day now.

Hi to all those still interested in my journey.

Today I finished my 33 days (66 Grays) of EBRT. Apart from some rectal pain with some bleeding, I had little in the way of side effects and felt pretty good during the ordeal. However, I'm glad it is done. Nothing else to do right now except to get my blood tested on the 19th Jan., and then see the Onc for the test result on the 26th Jan. Of course, I'm hoping for a good result.

David (dsmc): If I'm not mistaken, you should be just about finished with your procedure. Hope it is going well and that you're feeling ok.

Hi Paul,
I am glad to hear you have finished with no major complications! I have completed 23 of my 38 with nothing but some burning with urination. I am scheduled to complete mine on 1/14/09. I do seem to be a little tired on some days but I have called off work until I am finished so that should help. I too will be thinking of you in January for a good report. I asked my Oncologist when I would get my first PSA test and he said 6 to 12 months. He said you could get false positives & negatives and he wanted to let things settle down before he tested. I think I will have to have one before that though. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and that goes for everyone on the board! I will check back in soon.....
