Prostate Cancer at age 50

I would like ask what is your TNM Stage. Are you going to have surgery in addition to hormone therapy...possiblibly radiation? Possibly you could provide more information. As you know, you're seeing an excellent doctor. I too hope you outlive this cancer.

The Doctor at MD Anderson told me that in my situation that Radiation would occur in maybe 8-12 years. The caner is in my lymph nodes but have since swelled down to 1 cm from 3cm in FEB. of this year. As far my prognosis goes, the hormone therapy is the frist line defense the Doctors want to go with.....and when the therapy begins to fail, maybe radiation. Because of my age they want me to maintain as normal a life as possible.

I appreciate all the info this board has to offer to people like myself. It sucks that we have to endur this problem but it is not the end of all. I truly believe that.

I travel to MD Anderson every 6 months for CT Scans and a Bone Scan and a visit with the Dr. at Md Anderson. I see my Urologist every 3 months for the Lupron shot and to discuss what is going on. MD Anderson and my Urologist are on the same page as far as the thereapy goes. Both Drs. have said that this disease is different for each person and that there will be different approaches taken as needed. Kinda like a medicine chest. They did say that research is improving and that there is a wealth of "stuff" out there for all of us. I have chosen to take an agressive approach to this disease by seeing my Drs. often. I hopr this helps everyone who reads this.

Did you say that this was your first visit to MD Anderson. I would like to hear from others who have made the trip there and hear how about their experience. The hospital is one of a kind.

We do stay at the Rotary house. It is much easier. I am familiar with the area in and around the hospital.
