Day 32 - Catheter Finally Out

I'm sure you will all be glad to know that my catheter was finally taken out at day 32.  There was a little weird pressure feeling and a quick burning pain, but it popped right out on the first try.  My doctor thinks the extra healing time with the cath in was for my own good, he said the many painful spasms I had (and complained often) were actually the sign of a strong bladder.  It's been out for about 2 hours now, haven't leaked a drop yet on my first pad.  Have been able to urinate pretty well normal, though it takes a bit longer, and was able to stop stream in mid air at will, hope those are all good signs for continence.

He wants to see me on Jan. 5th, and will take first post surgery PSA test at that time, and hopefully at week 7 1/2, release me to regular duty so to speak.  I can drive now and take regular baths, etc, but still no heavy lifting.  Like all men here, I am looking forward to joining the zero club with that first PSA reading.  Best to one and all.

Best to you living, hope your spirits are better, with what you are dealing with, I feel terrible to have complained at all, but I guess we all react differently to what crosses us in life. The dr. re-reviewed my post surgery report with me, and said, that they have every reason to believe that I will remain cancer free from this surgery, although, certainly not a guaranteee of a come back.

I read it, and that is really great news, must feel great for you to get even that much of a break. I am hoping only the very best for you, and hope you can enjoy the holidays ahead.

James, I am hopeful of that very thought, but realize its early in the game, still hoping my surgeon/dr knows what he's talking about.

What a long ride on the catheter. I am glad to see you are through with it. I bet that stream picks up. Usually the catheter can cause swelling too. I wish you the very best as you continue to heal. I too have a date in January for my nect PSA. I live in vegas and I'll bet we both get the beloved zeros...

I'm glad to read the positive news. Good luck. Each day gets better. Let me remind you what someone on the forum said, "squeez before you sneeze". Maybe we need to print that on a tee shirt. 

Now we (I) can be a bit jealous of you for a change. Hope my de-catheterization goes as well as yours.

....wow, I'm glad you got that thing out! ....that many days, well, i'm glad it's gone! Congrats on the cath being out....now start healing well....you're doing great!!
