I've gone from about 10 pads daily to 3, and most of the progress (reduction in leakage) has taken place in the past two-three weeks. I saw my Urologist/Surgeon again last week and he has told me then, and before, that most of his patients see real progress/improvement during the 3 to 6 month post-op period . . . and that I shouldn't worry too much about it yet.
Not to worry? Easy for someone not dealing with the matter to say. I have learned, however, how to handle the changing of the pads issue. I travel with extra pads and, if necessary, excuse myself from a discussion or meeting so that I can quickly go to the men's room to change a pad. I also, sometimes, change out in public when I can't get to a bathroom - and I'm not too shy about it anymore. I find a place off to the side somewhere, reach in - and change the pad. One, two, three . . . it's over quickly and nobody sees.
