Wii Fit

You wouldn't think a discussion about a game console would belong on a prostate cancer forum.  Ruthie and I got a Nintendo Wii for Christmas with the Wii Fit excercise board and software.  I have been working out every day with it and it is very enjoyable and will have me sweating quite well by the time I am done.  It actually measures weight, BMI, posture, balance, and weight shifting.  It provides full trainers and links to the internet for information and such.  It also contains graphs that show you your progress, and advances you with each workout.  It has Yoga, strength training, balance games, and areobics.

I need to lose some weight, no doubt, and to me working out has always been boring.  This is quite enjoyable and it also has an added benefit ~ the kids love it too.  I have never been a gamer, but this is something that if you are considering an exercize device, you should look hard at the Wii Fit.  The kids and grandkids will love ya for it, too.

There I did it.  I recommended a Wii game console for the fight against prostate cancer.  And I meant it too...lol

..aren't those things incrediable Tony? They work for the workouts....I work at a VA hospital, every ward has a Wii...the excercise the guys get from them are astounding. Shoot in a couple months we won't reconize you!!      Just don't throw the controller through the TV screen!! :)

You guys are so right.  And this device is amazing!  I have added a link to my original post.  While yes you can play the fun games, there are also some strenuous exercise routines with the Wii Fit accessory!  Excellent and fun!

I just never imagined how a video game box could be so useful. I would buy one of these before any exercise device! And you are right, the games are fun too. Ruthie and I discussed getting one after our son'd girlfriend bought one and played it with us last June. Of course I did not know about the Wii Fit just yet, but Ruth said if we get one she wanted the Wii Fit. I had no idea to take it seriously. I am sold on after a very short time, and I am using it daily. LOL, I also like the horseshoes, the volleyball, the boxing, all the fun stuff!

I am not interested in the Guitar Hero or the Rock Band stuff...Mainly because I own over twenty guitars and have quite a bit of experience having played over thirty years. I used to tour when I was younger, so if I want to play that game...I can for real. BTW, you can get quite a workout that way too, but I don't see convincing a bunch of folks at a prostate cancer forum to play and sing some Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney tunes for prostate health...lolol

Speaking of video games, somewhere I downloaded a computer game written by a young boy with cancer. The game play was a skateboarder who attacked cancer cells.

Our family has also enjoyed Mario Party, which is like an animated board game, and the famous Dance Dance Revolution, which can also give you a great workout. When the kids play DDR, the room shakes and things fall off the shelves.

Tony. Last night my wife brought home the wii fit. The thing rocks. I love the bowling and boxing sports games but my wife used the fit to do yoga for over an hour last night. I will be messing with it today. I like the idea of playing the allen jackson and kenney chesney songs to work out but could you throw in a little blackfoot and ted nugent.

I don't bowl great on Wii, but I did maintain a 200 average on the real lanes a few years back. I once bowled a 278 and lost the round. The guy we were bowling against boweld a 299. We made it to the 8th frame clean when I left two pins wobbling. I picked them up and ran the rest. The guy with the 299, it was his 3rd 299 over a couple years in our league. I think I would rather have the 278 than keep missing that last ball...lol

I'd skip Jillian, the Wii Fit will keep dropping subtle hints on ya. Or at least on me. Once you try it, you'll agree! This is an excellent product. And I thank the guys who pointed out how hospitals and nursing homes are using them. I saw on TV how many nursing homes have internet bowling leagues and they compete with each other. This product is very fun, and it will make you want to work out. And my legs are sore from the strength exercizes. I highly recommend this game at any age group.

Di, Pete can still play. You can do most of the things on the Sports games sitting down. I know I can and do bowl and play baseball sitting. It only takes your arm action to play. The Fit requires more body motion, of course, but the Sports games are a different thing.

Hey, you managed to get a Wii Fit before many of us!

Have bowled in the 190's a few times, but never over 200. I have a ways to go before before I'm any competition to you.

Tony,This game is even used in nursing homes to help these older folks get some exercise. My nephew has one and lost 10 pounds in one month. I'm getting one for the boxing and golf.
How cool is this? You play indoor games and break a nice sweat. And then come back for more.

Ralph, the boxing is a great way to get exercise, the golf game that comes with is lame! Tiger Woods golf for the Wii is great.

I am a Wii convert. I got my wife the Wii Fit for Christmas and guess who uses it most?  That's right-----Me.  I love it
