Mike, I am also here in Virginia Beach, and I remember how scared I was when I first joined this club. This board is great for support and information. I'm not sure I would have made it through the last 15 months with my sanity without the fantastic men and women who post here. Try and read up and learn as much as possible before your next meeting with your Doctor. I found it best not to dwell on the worst, but to learn as much as I could so I would better understand this cancer, and know how to fight it. I found a great young Urolgist in Norfolk that I highly reccomend, if you want a second opinion. We are all here to help you!

Let me add in getting second opinions also find atleast one of them that is not linked or associated to the doc whom refers you. In other words look for not only a different modality (radiation, oncologist and others) try to make sure the doc is totally independent from the referrer (the possible network effect). Now you can throw that advice in basket or go see for yourself. My walk the walk showed alot of revelation in doing so and cannot be the first scenario of such.

Welcome to the club. Dr Charles "Snuffy" Myers is in Earlysville Va. I hope that's close to you. He is a well known prostate oncologist. Phone# 434 964 0212. Your high gleason scores indicate that an oncoligist is more appropriate than a urologist. I would definately contact him for a 2nd opinion. Good luck there are a lot of treatments out there that will extend your life a good many years.

Welcome, you will learn a lot on this site. Dr Charles "snuffy" Smith, a well respected prosate oncologist is in Earlysville Va. With your high Gleason scores I think talking to a prostate oncoligist is appropriate. He can be found on the Prostate Cancer Research Institute's website along with many other prostate oncologists. Good luck and get a lot of different opinions.
