Hi,
Your husband is lucky you are supporting him. My father has p.c. and my mother is really struggling. It is hard to get them to find the information we need, I think they are daunted by all the terminology and find it difficult to face things. My father went to the hospital last Tuesday and had a PSA reading of 141, they re-tested it and he went back last Thursday and it was over 200. They are now putting him on new medication but it takes so long before he can be retested. My advice would be to get the support of a good g.p. At his doctors surgery he had one doctor that was so slow, and not understanding that my father refused to see him, and sees another doctor in the practice who is really on the ball, and knowing you have someone looking out for you is very re-assuring. Do not be afraid to pester the consultants secretaries, it is your husband's life you are talking about so make the phone calls, demand earlier appointments, get things clarified, take in lists of questions so that you don't forget - and most important - get organised, research is the most valuable tool you have, so learn more about this subject than your g.p. tell them what you need and how much and when, see your consultant and is you are not happy with the progress then there are plenty of others if you are willing to travel to a more specialised centre. You only get one chance at life, so maximise your time. Good luck to you and your husband.
