Hey everyone, Haven't posted for awhile, How's everyone doing? I could use some feedback about my ED meds. I switched from Viagara to Cialis because the Viagara was giving me flashes and a heck of a headache, but Cialis doesn't seem to be doing much. Has anyone changed from etiher one of these to Lavitra with success? May just be too soon for any ED med to work at all, but I'm the eternal optomist? tongue

Sam, good to see ya again. Looks as if you are having a normal recovery. As to the pills, it seems that its an individual reaction as to which works best. You knew that answer was coming, didn't you? smilewinkgrin All I can say is to experiment with the 3 and see if there's a difference. At 3 1/2 months you may be a little early to look for full recovery, but hope springs eternal, huh? tongue

Greetings, Sam.  My doc gave me samples of both Levitra and Cialis and both worked equally well with the same side effects - stuffy nose and flushed face.  I took the Levitra first, then the Cialis and finally am taking the generic form of Levitra from ADC.  David

I was taking Viagra and Cialis before my surgery but the Cialis had pretty much stopped working. After the surgery, I continued with both. But the injections work best, especially the Trimix. I did switch to Levitra about a month ago and it works better than Viagra. I also get it from ADC and can't tell any difference.

Sam, I have tried all three, get the best results from Viagra 100mg or its ADC equivalent, also produces the most facial flushing. I tried Levitra 20 mg with good results, but can't say it was better, and Cialis 20mg is hit or miss, but produces the least flushing, maybe that is an indicator that it is less effective for me, no flushing = no fun !!! As you pointed out, your surgery was fairly recent, and as much as you get tired of hearing it, give yourself some time to fully recover, but the positive attitude is essential. For those who the flushing and other side effects are bothersome, I switched taking mine to just before I turned out the light to go to sleep. That way, I was sleeping through them. Works much better than when I took it at 8pm and went to bed at 12mn. If you aren't taking them to play, then sleeping thru them is a good option... turn

I hope you guys don't mind me snooping in your site. I'm not a cancer survivor but I've got ED/Impotence and your site has a lot of valuable information.

I'm talking to my Urologist about trying Levitra. Viagra (100mg) works but I get plugged up nose, flushing and feel hung over the next day. I tried Muse (1000ucd) and it works enough for penetration but is not really making it very firm. And while (for some reason) the climax/orgasm is very intense with Muse afterwards I feel like my privates have been stomped on. Anyway, the Urologist thinks the next step is Trimix assuming Levitra does the same thing as Viagra.

BTW are any of your wives uptight about Viagra Blindness/deafness concerns? Mine is very "anti pill" because of some reports of this. I am not sure how worried about this I ought to be?

James, personally I have not been concerned, nor has my wife, with possible side effects. They are listed and we are aware of them, but given that all drugs have side effects and the benefit these particular ones give to a recovering ED/PCa patient, it isn't an issue. Penile pumps are ok, as far as it goes, but the pills affect the whole circulatory system in the abdomen and penis area, and gives a longer lasting effect, allowing for better blood flow and infusion of tissue that a pump alone can do. Most of us who take the pills here are taking them for therapeutic ed recovery, not for the primary purpose- the ability to have sex.

I suspect that if you switch to Trimix and get the dose adjusted by experimenting a little, you will be very satisfied with the results. Given the choice between the pills and the injections, I would take the pills every time, but I don't have that choice yet... turn

I have been taking Viagra since 2002 and prior to my surgery, it worked fine with no problems. I quickly found out that it works best on an empty stomach and with no greasy foods. French fries, pasta, salad dressings just totally negate the drug's effect. I'm sure alot of users take it in the morning, I would be ready in 15 minutes prior to the surgery when I popped one at 6:00 AM.

Hi James.  I have never taken Viagara nor did I take anything else presurgery.  Post surgery I have taken both Cialis and Levitra and the ADC equivalent of Levitra.  I too take it just prior to going to bed 2 times a week.  I never know the side effects because I am asleep.  For what its worth, I also am ready to go whenever I need to be - need a good bit of stimulation but thats part of the fun!  My doc wants me to take it for rehab and it works fine.  David

Just a short note on my situation. I had da Vinci robotic surgery at Naples Hosp. on 12/15/2008. 1 night hosp. stay. Immediate recovery from the surgery. Catheter removed 12/23/08. Complete ED and incontinent. Decent retention while lying or sitting, but unable to control anything once I stand. Will start biofeedback on 3/3/09. As to the ED, I recently was prescribed a starting 30 day dosage of 5mg. of Cialis. Currently, no erectile response to, nor any side effects from, the Cialis.

Ok guys. I had Davinci 2/15/07. No problems. Continence is back 98%. PSA still 0.1 every three months.

To this day Viagra and Cialis do nothing for me for a usable erection.
I have been on injections (for intercourse) for one year using Bimix (Phento .5mg and Papa 30 mg) I use a 1/2 cc syringe, 5/16 inch needle, 31 gauge. (The solution is 10ML and costs about $100 at a compounding pharmacy. It last 3-6 months before it loses its effect.) The syringe has a total of 50 possible units. I usually use 6-8 units for a rock hard erection that can last 30 minutes - 3 hrs. I never know. I guess it depends on where I'm injected (usually 3:00 or 9:00 looking down)
My doctor says that I'm not using hardly any medicine. He cannot explain why I'm having to use anything at all. Guess he needs to go back to med school. By the way, I had to tell the doctor to start the injections. He did the usual (Viagra 3x's a week, vacuum pump, etc.)
after surgery. Guys, its up to us to find what works best. After surgery, I don't think the doctors really have a clue about sex.

I would get a prescription for Levitra to see if it makes a difference. I was also using both Viagra and Cialis. Like you, no response to either one, so switched to Trimix which works great. I also never know how long it will last and I'm on a minimal dose.

But when I tried Levitra, I was at 75% of normal the first time and have continued to improve. I have found that the different drugstore chains do make a difference. Go to a store that is close to a retirement community or has a lot of senior business. Levitra has a shelf life of 3 years and some stores don't sell enough to re-stock that often.
