Just got results of my 2nd post PSA today and I am very glad to announce that it was <.05 undetectable. My next one will be in Sep. As to the ED, I was prescribed with 20mg Cialis to be taken twice a week. I don't know what to expect with this pill on myself, I read some posts here that Cialis along with the the other blue pills has some sort of side effects. I am not in a hurry for that, but just to start increasing blood flow. I knew before the surgery that it will take a year or 2 or worse it will not come back, but me and my wife were ready for whatever the results will be. Our main concern is to treat the PCa and we're blessed that the PCa was taken cared of. The incontinence part, well, still dealing with it, though just using a liner a day for insurance purposes (still dribble occasionally).

Congrats on the Zero, good luck with the cialis, tried it and viagra, nothing happening in the ED department yet for me.  Went out and bought a vacuum pump, should have saved my money.  Me and it not getting on well at all.  Will continue with meds and patients, I think.

Congrats on the ZEROS !!! The Cialis gives me no side effects except a very pleasing erection I did start with Lavitra, it worked, but it gave me a real congested feeling and a headache. Get blood flowing into your penis as soon as you can. I was fortunate to get erections starting soon after my prostectomy. Not full ones, but pretty good. I do believe daily "therapy" provided by my beautiful wife is what has led to the med free erections now just 12 months post op. Did you have your nerves spared? If so, with the help of the meds, your wife and good luck, your ED situation will improve greatly. Best wishes to you.

Thanks for your well wishes. I hope Zeros will keep coming and a lifetime of them. That's the first concerned to get rid of the PCa. The side effects we could live with it. As others say, patience is the key to get back where we used to before surgery or whatever treatment we had. As to the ED, I stopped by the VA clinic today and gave my prescription. It should arrive soon from the mail. It's been more than three months, but I am used to it being in the Navy, always out on 6 months deployment most of the time.

I just wondering, is your doctor prescribed specific blue pill among the three. As I said above, I went to the VA to drop off the prescription and they called me at work saying that the VA don't carry Cialis, instead they haev Levitra. I called my doctor and asked if he wants me to take cialis or I could take levitra, but he's gone fo r the day and will not be back until Monday. I was thinking of going to regular pharmacy, but I've read from other posts that insurance will not cover them. Which one will give the least side effects.

I have taken all three and all have side effects. Viagra gives you flushing and hot flashes along with sometimes a stuffed up head. Cialis can give you leg cramps and the stuffy head situation. Levitra gives me the stuffy head and your sinsus' running. You need a lot of kleenex for awhile.

I think that the leg cramps with Cialis were the worse, it always happened in my right calf. Levitra was the most manageable. Having a hot flash from Viagra on a 90 degree day is not fun.

Reference the ED.  Each of us is different.  I have not taken Levitra.  I have taken Viagra and am currently taking Cialis.  Viagra really made me feel uncomfortable, and seemed to do nothing for my ED.  Taking Cialis I cannot tell the difference as far as side effects.  It has made a difference with some life down south regarding ED (not sufficient but at least hope).  My doc seems to think there is a need to keep blood flowing down in manville so that nerves will have the best opportunity to repair and rejuvenate.  That is my experience - I wish you the best!

I guess I have to wait until Monday if my doc will prescribe me levitra. I ask Tricare this afternoon and I was told that they're going to cover but it's only 6 tablets each month and $22.00 copay. I guess at the VA it's free. Anyway my VA service officer put a claim for ED and if it will be approved that will be 90.00 compensation a month for unable to use vital organ (I think that's how they put it ). Just enough to buy these pills every month until we get fully recover,if ever do.

Sounds like you are doing great. My ordering of importance was like yours, 1. get rid of the cancer 2. continence and 3. get the erections back. so far 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I still suffer from ED. I am taking viagra (every day) and cialis once or twice a week. I am hopeful. with the pump i can get somewhat of an erection. Strange but orxxxms are the same as before the surgery. I just lost my sister to a heart attack (and diabetes). I now realize how fortunate I am to have good insurance and a good outcome. I hope to only see good in people and don't dwell on things that do not matter. Life is too precious to not see the glass half full vs half empty.

Not to change the subject, but I have been tested with a psa of 3.5 and a 17% free psa.  I have a biopsy scheduled.  I wanted to know what a DRE is from other postings.

DRE is a digital rectal exam, wherein the doctor will insert a lubricated gloved finger into the rectum and palpate the prostate gland thru the wall of the colon. Typically a DRE will only be able to examine one side of the gland. The purpose of the exam is to feel for bumps, lumps, hard places and etc. in the prostate gland, which may indicate cancer lumps.

Me too has a good insurance. I am still with Tricare, though,now that I am retired (actually--it's called fleet reserve-- I could be recalled in case of war) I have to pay premium. But still way better than the rest.

I had my Dr changed the prescription to Levitra (20mg) and I brought it to the VA clinic. This afternoon, my primary care physician at the VA called and told me that the VA could only give 4 tablets a month. Likewise, she told me to start low dose 5mg once a week. Is there a big difference between the 5 mg and the 20 mg. I just want to start the blood flow in manville until it will stand by itself without meds.

Yes, the 20 mcg is 4 times the dosage. Did they give you the 5 mcg pills or the 20 mcg? If the 20 mcg, then I guess they expect you to cut them into quarters.

I would be really surprised if you have much of an effect from 5 mcg but it may happen since you have never taken Levitra before. I would try the 5 mcg but if there is no effect, then double it the next time and so on.

I just gave the prescription yesterday and when my doctor called me in the afternoon she told me that she ordered the 10 mcg and I have to cut it in half. It will be mailed. Normally it takes about a week.I have a cutter that came with my other prescription about 4 months ago. I never used any of these 3 pills before surgery because I don't have the need. So I'll try this 5 mcg and if it will not work then I'll go for higher dose.

I've taken the 5 mg levitra for 4 times already (once a week), but no change. It's trying to have life in there but I guess the flow of blood is not sufficient enough. But like others say-- it takes time and patience is the key. I had ordered the refill still for the 5mg while I am trying to get in touch with my PCP and say if she could increase it to ten.

i also use Cialis. Cialis is better than other Viagra Pills.

Have you tried using the VED? You can buy one from Priscilla's or one of the other retail lingerie/sex shops. For now, they work just as well as the prescription ones and they are only $30 to $40. The main thing is to get more blood flowing into your penis. The retail ones don't usually come with the constriction rings so you may have to go online for those. Phoenix5 web site has a list of vendors for VED's and rings.

Sorry, but I think your dosage is way too low right now. My urologist started me at the max prescription for the ED pills, had me cut one in half, take it, then see what the reaction was. So I started at 10 mg which worked somewhat, then went to the 20 mg dose. After those worked better, I started buying from ADC. You can get 80 pills for $80 from ADC.

I haven't got hold of my PCP yet. Though my urulogist prescribed 20 mg my PCP gave me 5. This Mondya I am going to the VA and see my PCP.
