Florida surgeons

An update. I had the robotic surgery performed by Dr Patel in Florida about a month ago. My report:

He found the prostrate to have 50% cancer. My Gleason was 3+3=6. I was informed that the cancer was close to the nerves but did not break the capsule. he nerves can be the ultimate pathway for the cancer to travel throughout the body according to my urologist.

The catheter was removed after 6 days. That was a good feeling; because it is mostly somewhat annoying.

Dr Patel sparred the nerves and I am having some slight tingling (very minor erection feelings). We will see what time brings.

I did not have any leaking at all. Perhaps that was because I have been doing kegels for many months due to extensive traveling. Or; Dr Patel is a very good doctor. I will go with both answers.

Right now I am getting back into exercise...slowly and my healing is going better than expected according to my doctor. I will be having a PSA test shortly and see what that indicates.

I felt that the robotic surgery was the best for me and Dr Patel had my complete confidence. I would definately recommend him to anyone having prostrate cancer. Also; Florida Hospital is a great place and you have a private room and your wife can stay with you. the nurses are great and always ready if you call. The stay is just 24 hours and you go home with follow-up visits for the catheter removal. There are several hotels in the area that will give you discounts when having the surgery and they are close to the hospital.

Absolutely great news! This has been some trip for you but the path report would make me bet that your next duty will be to apply for membership in the zero club.

ED can take a while since nerves heal slowly (they get beat up during the operation) You will find many suggestions for ED recovery on this board and, of course, you and your wife can always invent things to keep yourselves occupied while it happens!

My wife and I will be inventing after our nice, long conversation. Dr Patel told me I could go back to normal activities after the 4th week. Thought it would be about 6; but I will take it slow. Glad I (and my wife) made this choice for surgery.
