hi all,thanks for all you folks help cool I am wondering if any of you guys have had this problem.i am 6 weeks out of robotic surgery and i find that above my navel i have a hard sore lump.This is where the largest insion was.maybe some muscles were pushed aside   any thoughts ,i would appreciate it agains thanks to all

Hi Buckeye,

about 4 months after my husband's robotic surgery he found a lump above the umbilical incision site.  After a trip to the urologist office the development of a hernia was confirmed .    When the general surgeon talked to me after repairing the hernia he mentioned two places where he made repairs and one was a "defect" from the robotic surgery.  Two years later the repair has held and this is a person who works out  and works w/weights in moderation.

The other thought is that some people develop thick scars while healing and they may feel lumpy.

If it's bothering you you may want to call the Dr.'s office and run it by them.

Odds are you have an abdominal hernia. Any doc can tell you for sure in seconds. I had one and lived with it for at least five years..Bumped it once and boy howdy it hurt.  Had it repaired a year before my prostate surgery.

If it is an abdominal hernia, they "can be" dangerous. Part of your intestines can get trapped and die..thus causing grangrene and a trip to the ER.

Buckeye,

I'm about a week behind you, and I have the same sensation of a "hardness" just below the above-navel incision point.  At 39 days after surgery, I no longer feel a slight "twinge" of pain when I press against it, i.e., now it doesn't hurt at all, although it is still noticeable.  I suspect it's just scar tissue that is still healing.  When I see the surgeon for my follow-up on July 13, I'm going to ask him about it.

I have been having pain on the right side port area all the way to the groin.  Sit ups, push ups and coughing all are quite painful.  I can not feel a hernia.  Has anyone else had anything similar?  From any videos I have seen, this seems to be the port that is most active during the surgery.

I had a uro appt today and asked him about the pain.  He states that it is probably muscular or scar tissue.  No hernia and nothing abnormal.  FYI if anyone else had similar.

Also,9 mo. PSA = .03.  Another O.  You can never have enough of those.
