OK guys I scratched something off the old bucket list yesterday. I went SKYDIVING. Man it was awesome. Sad to say it took cancer for me to do something so liberating. I say have fun, live life, love often.

Believe you can Huey. I believe you can. Hopes and dreams have a way of manifesting themselves into reality when you trust and believe. I cannot say I always lived life to the fullest but now I am trying to enjoy it all. My first goal is always to serve in the kingdom.

Hey, great to hear a report from the living. My uncle, who started as a pilot in WWII, always said that jumping out of a perfectly good airplane was the stupidest thing anyone could do, but perhaps he learned under special circumstances.

By the way, this activity will be reported to the audit committee of the Zero Club just as soon as they return from their two month annual meeting in Cancun.

Good for you! Ten years ago when I was still 20, I would have done it in a heartbeat. Closest I ever came to that was a waaaaaaaaay too long bungee jump on Vancouver Island. I'll take the stairs from now on. One at a time. Hopefully to the same place.

I hope my (younger) sense of adventure comes back.

Mike, here's an unpleasant thought for you (and for me at the moment), how about a bungee jump with the bag end of a catheter fixed to an object, then you jump off with it still connected to the old weiner. Ouchhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Just kidding

I always lived with the principel that we Live Live to the Fullest. I still subscribe to that. Good for you Dale. On to the next adventure!!!!

David, I dreaded stairs when I had the weiner bungee in. What's building code on stairs these days? Eight or ten inch risers per stair? The bungee jump I took seemed like it started in Canada and ended up in China. I screamed like my sister the whole way, both ways actually. My hat's off to Dale.

I understand your feelings Mika, I would say to create your own bucket list. I bet you would like to go rock climbing. Hmmm I think I will do that next.

Mike, at one time. both my adult age sons and I were wanting to jump at the same time, but the women folk of the family nixed that one real quick.

That's a great posting! Nothing like skydiving to make you feel alive. I did it in my 20's.

So.. what would other people put on THEIR bucket list?

Personally, (besides skydiving again) I would put rafting the Grand Canyon on there. Seeing the Magellanic Clouds from the Outback. Eating at a cafe in Paris. (France, unless there's a great one in Paris, Texas). Hoisting a stein at Oktoberfest in Munich. Hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro. Spending some time on the beach with my kids. See Rome.

How about everyone else?

First on my bucket list is one of Tony's exciting mornings !

The next several items seem to repetitive.

After that, skydivinf will be sort of ho-hum !

Greetings, Dale.  Congratulations on doing something you always wanted to do.  Personally, I was in the Air Force for several years and often had the opportunity to go up in both helicopters and fixed wing.  I always said if anyone wanted me to jump from a perfectly safe airplane that at least 8 or 10 others should also have their parachutes ready because at least that many were going with me.  I say whatever your dream is - do it.  We are all different - that is what makes the world an interesting place to be.  David

Dale, I think it's great you did this. A good thread started here. Glad you got to do it with your son.

David, I was on the west coast on biz when I did the bungee jump. When I came home and told my wife, I was grounded for 2 years.

This has got me thinking about my own bucket list. Lot's I'm thinking about. Hope this thread continues.

mike, my real interest would be in caving or doing some underground urban exploring. I do want to take my wife to San Francisco one day, I was stationed on Treasure Island there in the bay when I was 18 in the Navy, but she has never been to west coast. I guess we all have things we would like to do.

Dale .... while I was awaiting the pathology after surgery I watched The Bucket List and started to think of my own. Should I fill a thousand pages, tightly spaced with tiny fine point writing, sky diving would NOT make it. Understand, I'm not a bit fearful of the dive. It's the landing that scares the beejeebs out of me!

However, like any good beauty contestant, I support world peace and the right of anyone to put sky diving on their bucket list. I salute you, I cheer you on, and I marvel that anyone would jump out of an airplane on purpose. I can't imagine if I went out the door there'd be a Depends pad large enough to protect the crops below.

Well Dale, seems like you are joining another president that likes to jump out of planes. Actually...jumping out of a plane is one of the safest things to do...it's the sudden and abrupt stop at the bottom that gets you.

Congrats Dale for taking the time to do what you wanted to do in your life. Jumping out of a plane isn't one of mine, but I bet we all could share stories of those fantastic moments in our life. Try 4 wheelin over Black Bear pass in the Rockies...that will make your heart pump a little.

A friend who is an expert spelunker recently invited me to go caving with him. I'm not sure I want to go down under but I haven't nixed the idea either. There are plenty of caves here in Virginia.

Inspired by you adventurous fellows I have just added sitting out on the deck with a couple of beers and watching the ball game on TV to my Bucket List.

Not a real adventure? You should see how many mosquitoes we have this year.
