Dr. Robert Nadler of Northwestern University/Hospital (he's head of it's minimally invasive surgery practice group) was my Urologist/Surgeon when I was confronted with the news last year that I had prostate cancer. My relationship with Nadler has been good and I recommend him and the team of specialists at Northwestern - because all treatment areas are represented amongst those specialists (oncologists, da Vinci surgeons, etc.). We're fortuate, those of us living in Chicago . . . because we have such an extensive network of excellent specialists and medical facilities available to us. By the way: I would not be too impressed with a particular Urologist/Surgeon based primarily upon the number - high number - of procedures attributed to him. I think there is a minimum number of procedures in any one area which indicate proficiency, but on the other side of the coin a high number, depending upon the time frame they are being reported for, can be a sign to stay away from a particular Urologist/Surgeon or medical team. Best wishes for your friend and his challenges ahead.
