Per a couple of people's suggestion, a new post of this journey each time to keep the length of thread reasonable.

Today was number 8 of 39.  Lots of alignment problems, sure makes me nervous, hoping they really have it right when I get zapped.  Took 45 minutes for today's treatment, and my machine wasn't even busy.

Nausea set in about one hour after I left.  Thankful no return of the stomach cramps like I had yesterday.  Back home resting.

Still a bit weary of how I will feel further down line if I am already getting this affected.

Yeah, sceduled to be done the day after American thanksgiving, but gee, might not be able to enjoy without hurling at the rate my nausea is building, lol. Be happy at this point to be well for Christmas. Last Thanksgiving and CHristmas are nothing but a blur and a smudge to my memory, as I was coming out of surgery at that time.

Spoke too soon, having some serious stomach cramps again and deep nausea. Bear in mind, if you are new and reading this, lots of people go through radiation without ever feeling anything other than some general fatigue. Each body is different. I had a hard time dealing with radiation when I went through it ten years ago. Being 10 years older doesn't help my case. But the point, just because I am having a harder time, doesn't mean you will if you are about to go through it yourself.

I'm doing IG-IMRT at Dattoli in Sarasota. I had treatment 3 of 30 today, so I'm 10% done. I hadn't realized nausea would be problem but I'm feeling some already. Also a bit run down, but that started before the radiation, about the time I started with Avodart. Or maybe it's this stupid-hot weather we're having since I got to Florida.

The info book they gave me says nausea is an uncommon side effect. I may ask to talk to one of the nurses tomorrow about it.

I asked the radiation tech how many patients are going through the clinic now and he said around 35 which is slow. In the winter they have up to 60 at any one time. No alignment problems yet. They are very efficient. I've been in and out in less than 20 minutes.

I forgot to ask about dosage but they hit me from 7 positions at around 10 seconds each. I have to drink 16 ounces of water in 5 minutes, starting 30 minutes before the scheduled treatment. They do an ultrasound on my bladder to make sure it is full.

Mike, sorry you are going through it yourself. I don't have to drink anywater, because of the fact that I have an indwelling catheter. My radiation oncologist says nausea is not uncommon for the level of radiation I am getting, and because I had a hard time with it in the past.

I have had nausea to some degree on all 8 treatments so far.

I am one of only 13 patients on the local IMRT machine right now, not usually a waiting problem, but they seem to have a hard time with my alignment on most days. Today was 45 minutes on the table.

some discomfort some burning I didn't know how tired I'd be I figured it was the 180mile round trip I don't remember any nausea just another bump in our bumpy road

that was some drive mjr, thats a long way from the radiation center. mine is perhaps 7 miles each way.
