Incontinence-if coffee, alcohol,soda are bad, what could help?

I'm still experimenting because... well,... because I'm a nut case and just have to.
Last night I skipped the tea and only peed 205 ml this morning. Clearly the stuff just goes right through me. My plan tonight is to drink just before bed. That seems like a disaster waiting to happen but I am willing to give it a try.

I have noticed another effect of the tea. My pee is not as pungent. I had asparagus the other day and my pads smelled so bad the bathroom paint started to peel.
Has anyone else noticed food to avoid? I'd like something that causes it to come out with the aroma of fresh Cinnabons or Spearmint.

David, I'll wait until they perfect smellovision and I can post it on UsTube. Then we can all enjoy the full effect.

By the way, I am serious about my asparagus question above. I intend to avoid that like the plague. It's bad enough that sometimes I'm carrying 175 ml of pee in my pants but pungent pee is just too much.

Think you're right on about the asparagus. My wife tells me she is positive she read that.

Another point about Chamomile tea. I'm sure the quality varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. My wife, a big tea person, says Bigelow is the best quality. (WAIT-am not a dirty-rotten spamer! Have no stock or commercial interest in that company.) Since we on this side of the pond are generally tea-neanderthals, maybe Inglish Alf could enlighten us.

jeff, asparagus is a big one, we had fresh aspargus friday evening, in fact I cooked it, and eventually, when I was emptying one of the cath bags, it reeked of it. Canned asparagus doesn't seem to do that with the smell bit.

No smello-vision I'm afraid.

A quick rummage on the Net mentions the following as causing strong urine odour.

Asparagus

coffee

onions

curry

turkey

alcohol

Sugar Puffs

High protein diet

I've also seen mention that vitamin tablets change the colour and smell of urine and the same goes for some antibiotics.

Bladder and kidney infections can also make pee smell worse.

Blood and urine make a smelly combination. So I imagine that if there are any blood clots hanging around in the bladder they could perhaps be making pee smell.

I'm not sure why I forgot, but yesterday (Sunday) I forgot to drink any camomile tea, and for the first time in weeks had a few dribbles: the sort when you dribble about a minute after going to the bathroom.

I also had very smelly pee this morning. All I can thinik it could have been is that I've been eating melon for the first time in weeks. I now also remember that I've eaten turkey and curry in the last couple of weeks too.

Maybe the we just need to carry on eating and drinking what we like, but then hold our noses when we pee.

If the weather stays good today, then I'm off to Amsterdam today to get a PSA test. (Fortunately I can go any time I like today or tomorrow - I'm seeing the urologist next week for the results. And then I'll update) It's my first PSA test since the operation and first visit to the hospital since they took out the catheter, and, strangely, I'm feeling more apprehensive than I did on the day of the op.

Alfred, you are suffering from what we call PSA Anixety. Very common. You have been through a lot, you are still in the recovery stage, and you realize the importance and implications of that first post-treatment PSA test. Your chances are high to make it into the Zero Club, so try not to let the waiting get under your skin. Keep your mind busy on anything else but PC and PSA, and please keep us posted.
