After enduring another very painful filled weekend, saw my uro/surgeon this morning. Based on what's going on, he removed catheter #11, the foley catheter. It was causing all the back to back spasms and stabbing pains. He left the SP suprapubic cath in, since it is working so well. When he removed the foley, he was so slow and careful, wouldnt let his nurse help, he slowly deflated the balloon (in stead of the quick shock it usually produces, and ever so slowly removed the cath. Never really hurt, just felt creepy coming out. He was deeply concerned about
causing me any more pain.
The plan now, is to leave the SP cath, which isn't hurting, isn't infected (for now), for 2 weeks then have me come back in. At the next meeting, he will heavily sedate me, the go up with a scope again and see what condition my bladder neck is in, and if needed, do a soft dialation, put in a foley catheter, and removed the SP.
He said if I am still in too much pain down there in 2 weeks, he will simply replace the SP cath with a fresh one. He said again that the radiation was almost too much for the area, and feels its responsible at this point for all the set back, extended cath times, and incredible periods of pain.
Even though the foley is out, it hurts just the same, it may take a few days for that to heal some, he said it might even bleed some more, but not to worry. Stay off my feet as much as possible, keep taking the pain meds as needed.
Hopefully things will improve in 2 weeks, I hope, because the past 2 have been weeks of pure hell. Been averaging 2-4 dozen a day painful spasms, and even a greater number of those sharp, burning ,stabbing pains through the penis itself. I hope even later today I will feel better.
So my journey continues onward, still don't know where its going. Right this second, glad to be back to one caths instead of two.
