The Good, The Bad and You Gotta Be Kidding Me-PSA IS UP!!

Hello there guys and gals, I am back to say howdy and provide a little update. Sorry I have been away so long, but it's been just a little on the busy side lately.

So here's the GOOD. Lynn and I have finalized the purchase of the dream RV and have taken possession. I am outfitting it and getting ready to start traveling. For those that care about such things I am providing a link to the pics of the unit. If you don't care, don't look, but don't shoot the messenger for trying to bring a little joy and positive attitude.

Well as you all know, I had the surgery (that didn't work) and then I had the radiation. I have finally cleared up from all of the side effects of the rad and everything is back in order except the ED stuff. So the BAD is that it ain't there yet, but we are still working on it.

Now for the "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME". I had my first post rad PSA test pulled today and I was supposed to see the doc tomorrow. A schedule conflict caused me to call them and tell them I couldn't make the appt tomorrow, but I would call for the PSA results. Well the nurse called me and said the doc understood about my not making it for the appt and went and got the lab results so they could just tell me over the phone. My pre-rad PSA was .63 and my PSA today was 1.1.

The nurse said the doc wants me to get another PSA in 30 days. I told her okay, I was not freaked out by the result (lied my butt off on that one) and asked if the doc was freaked. She said no, he will wait until the next PSA test.

So I can only think, Every Day is A Bonus. I am going traveling and if I am back in town in a month I"ll do another PSA test and if not, the test will have to wait until I get back.

So be careful, The Wolves Den, The Wolfey Wagon or whatever we name the 40 foot beast may show up in your neighborhood soon.

Hi Sonny, as you can read, after going through the salvage radiation, it made not a bit of difference to my PSA, the Oncologist told me the effects of the radiation lasts for a long time, I think that time has passed for me but hopefully your PSA will drop in the future, enjoy your new RV.

I am sorry to hear about the PSA but happy to hear about your RV. I will look at it thru the link you sent. My hope is that when you get back your results will show improvement. Your attitude is, as it has always been and just very positive. Send us postcards and your trip planner so we can honk at you and Lynn as you drive by in the beast. Best to the two of you.

Hi Sonny, That PSA must be something of a shock, alright, but I know from a friend his experience was similar and it's been hanging there for several years. Go figure. I've got you and Lynn on my prayer list.

I had a look at the RV photos. As we're up to our you know what in snow here these days, I can't say for sure if I was more excited about the grass, or the RV. The RV is amazing though. That thing has got more slides than a Canadian curling game! Wowzers.

I'd not suggest heading this far north right now, but come the end of May roll on up. Be thrilled to see you and Lynn.

Someday my dream is to have just such a beast and "do" the Alaska Highway. Come to think of it, your beast is so huge we could just attach a trailer and ride behind.

As we all say around here, it is what it is.  Not much we can do about it.  What a roller coaster ride this PC can be.

I am sure you will have many years riding around in that RV.  After you get done down there in the south, come on up north, and we'll show you a good time in the great lakes.  I have hookups in my side yard.  Oh, put a little of Jeff's cajun cookin in the refrigerator and bring it on up.

We continue to think about you and Lynn.  Hopefully you'll get a mobile air card and chronicle your travels.

Well, like all of the other brothers here in the PCa forum have stated, we are sorry to hear of your PSA results.  And as you well know, it the kind of news that all of us fear each time that needle punctures our skin to remove blood.  But, as you and I spoke about on the telephone a couple of weeks ago, it's time to get on the road and enjoy the new adventures that await you and Lynn.

We wish for you a safe journey, remember, keep that beast between the lines.  Take it slowly and enjoy the beauty of the open road and all of the wonderful sites across this country.

Idaho is a long distance from Orlando, but if you want to see God's country, "come a runnin".

Ohio to Michigan - Calm Compiler down a little

Michigan to Winnipeg - Sheldon (an intro to Canada and the metals business)

Winnipeg to Rapid City, SD - Black Hills and Mount Rushmore

Rapid City to Clearwater, ID - Dallas the cowboy and the lovely Jean

Clearwater to Las Vegas - No, not the nightlife but jump off to Grand Canyon

On to Houston - Howdy Rob2 ( and maybe a stop at MD Anderson for Lynn)

Houston to Baton Rouge, LA - Corvetteman and cajun cooking

Back Home

Estimated trip about 7k to 8k miles. Estimated time - who cares- it'll take as long as it takes.

There were a few of you that I didn't have locations for, plug in your city and tell me where it fits on the route.

So what do ya think folks, sounds like a plan don't it.

Sorry about the rising PSA. That is not the news I was hoping for. I expected a report on the Olympics instead. I hope and pray that it is only a blip on the radar and that it will start going down. Hang in there and enjoy your new RV.

Glad to hear about the Motor Home! Sounds like fun and remember the office work at is within site of I-75 in chattanooga so when you come rolling through this way you better shout so we can meet!

Ed, good to hear from you. I sure do plan to enjoy the traveling and it can't get here too soon.

CareBear, found Douglassville. My route had me going from Oklahoma City down to Houston through Dallas. Adding Douglassville just routes me from Okla City to Douglassvile and then to Houston and I bypass altogether the Dallas part of it. Don't mind at all, didn't have any reason to go through Dallas anyway. It also didn't change the mileage that much either. Get to see a different part of the country. That is what this trip will be all about, seeing the country that we always just saw from the airplane as we traveled.

I too am sorry to hear about the PSA rising.  I don't know much about RT but I see other guys have posted here that the PSA can take a while to drop.  I trust there is some hope there.

That is one fine looking Class 3 motorhome.  I just joined the RV world myself about a month ago.  We got a 32' 5th wheel over in Orlando.  I got that because I didn't want to tow a car, but our plan is to take it out West this summer and live in it for a few months in MT.  Our first baby step trip is next week over to the Disney Fort Wilderness campground.  You'll probably get to Atlanta on the via the Florida Turnpike but if you would like to detour to Bradenton I'd enjoy taking you to play my favorite Donald Ross golf course.  There's room to park right in from of my house.
