To Trimix or not to Trimix? That is the question...

We are nearing 8 weeks post surgery and hubby seems to be peeing well, no leaking, the biggest inconvenience he says is that when he has to go, he HAS to go quick!

As far as ED issues, though, that is so inconsistent with the Viagra. It's been up and down, so to speak :) and rigidity is the biggest issue. We are nearing our two month follow up appointment and since we initially had promising results with the meds, the doctor told us to hold off on the Trimix and to check in with him at this upcoming visit.

What would you guys do? Keep on a going with the viagra, or give it a "shot" with the trimix?
Any thoughts on pros and cons?

How soon do you start with Trimix? any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm sure the doctor will have his opinions, but I wanted to ask some of the veterans who've been there.

Hi Soulmate.........I started using Viagra every day (100mg/All Day Chemist-Manly) at about the 8-week post surgery mark. I had absolutely no results other than the side effect of stuffy head. But I had faith and have continued the same regimen to date, which is now about 13.5 months later. Coventional wisdom has it that it takes, on average, anywhere from 6-24 months for erectile function to return. Some longer, obviously, some less

time. All I really got from the 2-9 month mark was "plumping, off and on. Then from 9 months on, I've seen a gradual improvement. I fully expect for that to continue. If your husband is experiencing anything at this point, I would take that as a good sign, and not jump to the shots just yet. At this stage, the PDE-5's are mainly for therapeutic use to restore blood to the tissue. We are all anxious in the ED dept, and hope things happen sooner than later. The above is just my personal take on the approach, and others certainly will feel differently depending on many factors. Hope your husband's recovery continues on an upward path in all categories!

Thanks, guys, I should also clarify that our urologist was ready to give my husband Trimix at our last visit, so it is not we who are trying to rush the use of the Trimix, it was brought up by the doctor. When we told him that hubby had some response from the Viagra, he said to wait until this next visit...he fellowed under Dr. Mulhall, who is supposedly a penile rehab guru.

That is why I am wondering what others' experiences have been regarding the timing of starting with injections...

101, Wow you have a great Dr. that is willing to work with the ED. So many of the Uros don't take much interest after the gland is removed. I think you are a bit early to start with injections but check with the Dr. He may think that this is a way to kick start things in high gear so to speak.

I do wish mine would have been aggressive in getting me back on track.. I had to find an new Dr. to get on injections after a year.

I guess I come from the perspective of why wait.  In my case my urologist combined the use of ED drugs and the injections.  The only reason to wait is the fear of the injection which most men that have done it will tell you there is little if any pain.  The quicker the penis returns to states of erections the better the chance of recovery of normal erections.  Then there is the fact it allows the two of you to return to having sex.  I wish the drugs had worked for me and the fact they are having some effect on your husband is a good sign.

I'm also wondering if hubby should try other meds than viagra...that will be a question for the doctor, too.

Thanks for all the info. Surgery jan. 20 tried cialis once at 5 weeks and had a headache for 3 days, afraid to try anything else. Poor little fellow has diappeared.
