Heartburn A Few Days After Surgery

Did anyone experience heartburn days after surgery? My husband had surgery 3 days ago, has hardly eaten anything since then and is suffering from terrible heartburn, which is unusual for him. I'm waiting for the doctor to return my call. Thank you.

The prostrate is pretty much unrelated to the digestive track...

What meds is he on? Maybe stool softner/anti spaz???

Heard back from the doctor. He said heartburn is common after surgery, especially since he has been sleeping a lot lying down and not eating much. The doc said they gave him pepcid in the hospital and suggested Tums for quick relief and pepcid at the same time, although pepcid takes 12 hours for relief. He said once Harvey starts eating normally it will go away. The doc also said that if he starts sweating and getting chest pain it is not heartburn. I knew that, and fortunately the only symptoms are the heartburn.

I know the night of the surgery I was sick with heartburn and mostly nausea. They gave me a shot of compazine. That did it and fortunately it didn't return
