Got the call from my RO this morning. The results of the latest PSA ---- 1.5--CARP.

Prior to rad it was .6 then 6 weeks after rad it was 1.0, now 30 days later it is 1.5.

So he and I are finished with each other and I will be meeting with a Medical Oncologist in the next few weeks to discuss where we are going from here.

I told him that I still maintain that my PCa is nothing compared to what my wife is going through and I will deal with it however I have to. We agreed that it is not life threatening right now and I will continue to approach each day with that thought.

Now I am leaving for the east coast of Florida to umpire some good D1 College Fast Pitch Softball and I WILL NOT GIVE THIS CARP ANYMORE THOUGHTS OR ENERGY FOR THE REST OF THE DAY.

So there you have it my friends, the word is in. On the bright side I have a very compelling story to tell the VA Docs tomorrow morning and my checks should be in the mail sooooon. The price of diesel is going up and I plan to do a bunch of traveling real soon.

Sonny, I know you are being positive about it ,but as your friend, it grieves me with this latest reading. PC is such a nasty, unfair, and cruel bast***. Call me sometime soon, and we will have a good long talk. Still looking forward to your road trip, I am finishing up on the last propane hose on our restored Shasta, then I will have a 100% new up to code propane system.

Your PC has a mind of its own, for sure, because you have done all the right things. So whatever you do, don't beat yourself up. A good medical oncologist is the right step. The one I had 10 years ago was an expert in his field, and I learned more from him about how cancer acts and reacts then all the other doctors I have seen since.

Bless you brother, and your sweet wife Lynn. I am here for you, just ask, and its yours.

P.S> where on the East Coast of Florida? We lived in Merritt Island and Cape Canaveral for a couple of years. And, you are a certain shoo in for that VA money, what a poster child of living proof.

Well Sonny I am sorry to hear that news. Your positive attitude is still an inspiration to me. Glad you have a plan in place, both for treatment and for life. Be blessed my friend and enjoy the games.

so sorry to hear the lousy numbers - but you are hitting on it on the head and doing what is best for you
- have a great time at games - I used to umpire in school baseball - lots of fun
- get those VA docs in line and get that $$ rolling back to ya -

Sonny, I echo all the stress and support expressed above for both you and Lynn. I think of you often, keep you on my prayer list, and am watching for that diesel beast of yours to come rolling down the Trans Canada Highway.

So, the battle rages on. So sorry to read that you didn't have a better test result, but your positive attitude is inspiring. I've read several stories were men have done quite well for many years after finding themselves in similar situations as you. I'm wishing you well in the years to come.

However is the following any help?
I had my first meeting with an RT doc today. And he said that the RT itself can make the PSA rise and that they will not test my PSA until at least 3 months after I have finished RT!

Sorry to hear your results, Sonny. I'm glad to hear you have an escape from this cancer Bull----. Like you, this disease also made me realize that that there more to do than just work and that I needed to do some traveling with my wife. Hope you find a great doctor for the next stage.

I was hoping you'd catch a break. You are an inspiration to all of us. You are correct to be seeing a good medical oncologist, hopefully one who specializes in PC.

 

I know you have been against further treatment, but I keep reading of so many people who get further treatment and keep the beast at bay for many many years.

 

Keep us informed of your journey.

 

Hey, with your RV, you can just pencil a stop at a good doctor somewhere along the way.

 

Maybe Strum or one of those other guys?

I'm sorry to hear your latest PSA news. I admire your positive attitude and your outlook on life. There are still a lot of bullets left to kill this dreadful disease and I know that you will do whatever it takes. I say a prayer of for you. Best of luck brother.

You and Lynn are welcome to park your rig at our place any time. We can use a little Global warming here so feel free to burn some diesel and head up this way.

I think the moderators ought to allow you to express yourself without the ***. We are all cussing with you.

But it will be your attitude that takes you very far in this gig. Don't let the numbers game spoil your time on the road for a New York second.

We are pulling for you and hope we hear the airhorn blast in our neighborhood one of these days. Our best to Lynne too.

There are not enough ***** to describe the disappointment. Of course there are treatments, but dang it. Glad to hear you are not slowing down to dwell! Keep on moving and keep us posted!

My wonderful friends and supporters,

Thank you for all of your kind and encouraging words.

Had a wonderful time on the ball field today. Couple of quick and easy games, my partner and I got all of the calls right and nary a word of complaint was heard from either side. It was truly a blessed day on the diamond.

Then to come home and see your posts truly puts the end to a great day.

The sun was shinning, no clouds in the sky and a nice 70 degrees. What more could you ask for.

Yep, Every Day is A Bonus, ain't it?

Sonny, Sometimes thing do work out for us. Having the good day for calling a game was a wonderful way to break the tention of the news. Know that both you and Lynn are in the prayers from both Pat and I for you 2 guys. Can not wait to see the 2 of you in my driveway.

Lynn says we should plan to start the trip sooner rather than later. So maybe we'll go see the new doc and then plan to hit the road, may be in your front yard in the next month or so.

Heck with the PCa, travel budget seems to be falling in place. See the VA today and on April 17th ( 5 months prior to turning 62) I'll put my papers in for Social Security. At least from a financial standpoint we continue to be very blessed. The two of them combined should pay for a bunch of diesel fuel.
