Break time over with........lol

Well, my HW weekend break was nice, not being away from my friends here, but having a whole special weekend with my wife.

We didn't go camping with the RV, decided still too many physical issues with what I am feeling and still being with catheter.  Even the sleeping arrangements in our Vintage RV would have been complicated for me at this point.

Instead, we did a nice package deal with Holiday Inn.  Had a beautiful suite overlooking Asheville, even had a hot tub right in the room itself  (though I cant currently use one).  Spent Saturday wearing ourselves out at the Biltmore Estate, was peak weekend for the Festival of Flowers.  Way too much walking for a cath, had a lot of bleeding issues, so we rested much of the afternoon, then went out for the evening.  Sunday, we made the short drive to Chimney Rock, which is now a state park in NC.  As close as it is to where we live, never been there in 17 years.

It was beautiful, the views amazing, weather perfect, we copped out and took the 30 second elevator to the summit.  Spent a lot of time, and got some amazing HD films to add to my collection of clips.

Ended up in Flat Rock, NC, where my wife finished emptying out my wallet shopping, but I didn't mind.  It was a great trip and celebration of our 36th anniversery.

Were it not for the constant nagging of the catheter and spasms, I could have easily forgotten all about PC.  But at least I knew at all times that I am in remission right now with that .04 reading, and that helped.

Excellent David....glad the weekend was a wonderful break from all that you have been through. Hopefully soon you will be rid of the catether completely and begin the Healingwell.

Thank you, Sephie, and Brosman, and Les. All of us need a break sometimes. Over the years here in western SC, we have had many a wonderful weekend in the greater Asheville area. Feel fortunate to live so close to so many beautiful places. Driving the speed limit, only took 1 hr. 15 mins. on a Friday evening to make the city limits. Yet like being in a whole different world.

My wife is due for a long vacation, think she said the end of May, as she starts getting "nurse burnout" around this time of year.

Of course I missed my brothers and sisters here, but HW takes care of itself and its own, doesnt depend on any one person or group of people. Been doing some catching up reading.

Had the laptop with us at the hotel, but I stayed away from HW and resisted the temptation to lurk.

I am so happy to hear of your weekend get away. I realize with a SP hanging out, it is hard to forget about PC, but I am hopeful you at least found a few moments where you could feel "normal" again. I 'm sure the .04 has been a tremendous boost to your sagging spirits.

We did 38 years on 4/8. What a blessing my wife has been, also a nurse.

Wishing you all the best, and hopefully you can get that bladder to quiet down.

Sounds like you both had a well deserved, wonderfull weekend. It's so sweet to learn that after 36 years, you and Peggy still get a kick out of: "last night I stayed at a Holiday Inn" !

That part of the U.S. must be gordeous this time of year and perfect biking country.

Alf - Chimney Rock is a place and a town in North Carolina. Chimney rock is now a state park.
Flat Rock is also a town in NC, where Carl Sandburg, the poet, kept a summer home.

David. Glad you were able to get away and enjoy the mini-vacation with your bride. My wife and I celebrated our 35th on Sunday. I asked her if she wanted to go out for dinner, but she said, "Why would we get dressed up and go out for a steak dinner, when we can stay in our shorts and have one here. Besides, your steak is better than anywhere else?" No argument there. So d*** hard to be this d*** good.

Sounds a very nice break David even with the attachments cramping your getting about. My wife would like your style ...... she has a liking for staying at nice hotels and eating fine food cooked by other people. I, on the other hand, like to be at home in my own very comfortable bed (I hate hotel beds....... I never sleep) and much prefer her cooking to the fare in restaurants (unless it's sefood of course). So every now and again she and a friend or two (female of course!) take off to a hotel for a weekend or so and I spend my time mucking about in the yard and tucked up comfortably in my own little bed. Win, win situation all round. She made the mistake of taking me off on a cruise for a fortnight once..........I was like a caged animal.
