My Good Friends

  So this is the otherside?   Met Mr. Da Vinci, Wed. AM and left the hospital Thur. afternoon. The cath. is a drag an I'm a little sore but I can not believe how good I feel.

  Doc. called Friday, said no positive margins and my gleason stayed the same, so at this space an time I'm feelin real good.

Cath. does not come out till next Monday[12 days] small price to pay, guess my blatter stem was a little thin.

Thanks for all the pre. surgery Posts, they played a big part in getting me to the Hospital Wed. morning.  Tim

Timm, welcome to the other side. The bright side and bright future ahead. Here's hoping that you have a non-event recovery. Don't forget to pick up the cath bag when you move around.

I guarantee that you will only forget it ONE TIME. But that one time is enough.

Tim, great going. Glad to hear you safe on the other side. That little bit extra of cath time will help that delicate bladder neck-urethra healing area, hopefully will make you go dry quicker too. So hang in there. The whole gang is rooting for you back here.

That is awesome news. Congrats on having such an easy journey to the other side. I hope that it continues to be a breeze.

That is a great report with the gleason remaining the same and you are feeling well. Cath will be out soon and recovery will hopefully go as smooth as the operation.

What GREAT news. It is just amazing how some of us have such an easy time with the surgery. Pleased that you are one of the lucky one. Welcome to the other side.

With that catheter, enjoy being able to drink a case of beer and then sleep for 8 hours without needing to get up.

  Feel like I got a real good punch in, on this thing. I'm going to take the next six days off and try not to  think about Cancer [lol] and then jump back on it Monday at the Doc's office. As a nurse friend of mind told me, you do'nt get alway with surgery without some trouble.

Question: When taking a BM. I get blood and urine leakage, from the point, willy and the Cath meet, I have had no blood in the bag, since day of surgery, seem's like I put pressure on this when I'm doing the job, anyway around this.

You might try a stool softener (tends to reduce the pressure when BMing).

Yea, I've been taking for almost a week now, not a real big deal, but it stings like h-ll for a couple hours after.  thank you   tim

Tim, congrats on your 'normal' or even better than normal recovery so far. The blood and urine issue is common and wil be for some time to come, especially if you are constipated or having difficulty defecating. The suggestion for stool softner as well as temporarily altering your diet to more fiber will help this. smilewinkgrin

That's the correct attirude. No whining.

Just be thankful you are having the BM's. It will all quiet down fairly quickly.

If the bowels are still a problem, you might try a little mineral oil - better soft and easy. Straining is not good.

The leakage may be a bladder spasm as well. The bleeding is likely from the urethra sutures. I had both for the whole time with the catheter.

Next thing to expect is the testicles swelling up like grapefruit. That will get your attention.

Timm, please keep us informed on your journey.

I found that drinking water quite a bit and walking a mile or so every day, then more as I got rid of the cath helped the recovery. I'm sure you knew this, but I'm just throwing it out there to state the obvious. drink and walk, drink and walk.

All those weird feeling you are probably getting during BM's will clear up soon enough. hang in,
