A Night From Hell

Dan, trust me, I don't take pleasure in writing these kind of horror stories, and I have had more than my share of them for sure. But I feel its important to relay an accurate acccount of my PC journey when I post here. If I have good news, I love to report that too, and if its bad, I feel its equally important to be honest. Hopefully not often, but one day, if some other person experiences any of this that I am going through, my accounts might help them with it, and help them endure through the pain and suffering part.

As a report today. I went out briefly today with one of my sons, ran a couple of errands, but that was enough minor walking to get me hurting all over again. So mostly been resting since. Had one really bloody bag today, and it happened while I was taking a rare minor day nap. Not like I was on my feet. Still don't understand where all the nasty sqiggly things and other debris keep coming from inside my bladder.

Got some consulting work to do tommorow, so hoping I will be feeling well enough to do that. Wife is improving, and looks like she will be going back to work tommorow morning.

Gee David, I look away for a while and then read of your latest setback. You, despite your protests, certainly are one hell of a resilient bloke. That debris and junk is probably killed off tissue finding its way out as part of the healing process. Maybe when we overdo it following an op or treatment it's just like pulling a healing wound open. As soon as we start to feel a bit better we all tend to think we're right to go, perhaps sometimes a little to early but that is human nature. You're a lucky man to have your own personal nurse on hand. Take care and a speedy recovery from this painful bout.

Wednesday Evening Update

Not a good day. Worked 4 hours consulting downtown - that was the good part. Had been draining pretty decent in the leg bag this morning, but every other bag was still real bloody. Toward the end of my time there, started feeling a lot of pressure down below, hurt bad, glad I was about to leave. As I stood there, had huge release under much pain/pressure, and filled the Depends Guard I was wearing, first for me to fill one, from a big spasm. Get in my car to drive home, had too more giant painful spasms, and they overcame the guard, and ended up wetting myself from waist to shoes. Nice wet drive home. Fortunately, with leather seats, that part was easy to clean.

So I cleaned up, put on a pull up, geez, and put on the leg bag, and for whatever reason, seemed to resolve itself on its own, was expecting to have to need to irragate the cath for a second time since Sunday morning.

Got a lot to tell my uro next Monday, if I make it that long. Every since he switched this last cath out, I have bled a lot, hurt a lot more than normal, and have leaked enough to need to use a pad. But even when urine comes through the bladder neck/penis, as in a spasm, the pain is almost unbearable, and sometimes, I can't hardly stand up or walk for awhile.

Something is still really not right, I am jsut about 5 months out from SRT, and things are worse, not better.

Sorry for a bit of a vent. I feel more disabled all the time.

I shouldnt even be needing a pad with a catheter in place, that's the frustrating part. And I often wondered how one would know when a pad was full, sure found out first hand today. It absorbed all it could on the first spasms, by the 2nd and 3rd, there was nothing left of the pad.

Billy, I of all mortals, long to make that a new post here. For a person known for great patience in trying times, its really starting to break me down. Even my wife is wondering if I should perhaps get back on some level of anti-depressent. Though I am not ready to agree to that at this point.
