Increase in PSA but still in zero club

I had my second 6 month psa check done and it has increased to .08 from .06 I am a bit disappointed at the result but the doctor said that it was not a problem

Hey, It's still under .1 - Could be test equipment calibration.

Colin, with a gleason 6, capsule contained, and a PSA below .1. I'd say that your doctor is correct. You shouldn't worry. Bb

Hey, Colin, great to hear from you.

With all that's been going on in Thailand, I've been wondering about you. Thanks for letting us know how you're doing.

If I went up 0.02 I'd be fussed too. I admit it. I start to worry if my neighbor's PSA goes us --- is it catching? But, it's not me and from my outside view I'd agree with your doctor. Please, do keep us posted.

Hi Colin,

My numbers were not as good as yours, so I kept a close eye on my post open RP PSA. After about 15 month it started to creep up. After 3 successive increases, when the PSA level reached .08, I got ready for SRT. By the time I started SRT the PSA had reached .1. If I were you, I would keep a closed eye on my PSA and start SRT as soon as I was convinced that it is a recurrence. It is my understanding that the chance of a positive outcome is best when SRT is started very early.

As we all know, the "zero" club is really kind of a myth. What is really is, is the "What, me worry " Club. Our bodies have some natuarlly recurring PSA, as well as the surgeon may have left a small piece of protate laying around.

Until the numbers get to the point where we can tell it is not just some natural PSA, or some remnant of prostate causing it, let's enjoy our time in the What me worry Club, or the WMW Club for short.

Sawasdee Colin: Now is the time to start looking into a radiation treatment. Oncologist, uro, hospital facilities, etc. You wouldn't want to be traveling to Bangkok every day for that.

Just learned that my all time favourite Rock & Roll bar,
the Tahitian Queen on Beach Rd. had a fire. The place was allways "HOT" but the boys could have done without that. (Dirt Road mean anything to you?)

Good (and bad) to hear from you. I saw what was going on in Bangkok and wondered if there were riots in the streets of Pattaya too. I'm pretty sure the rioting groups would not be the pro vs anti gov't, however. More likely it would be the "heteros" vs the "alternate life styles". The ratio was about 50-50 last time I was in the neighborhood.

I understand your concern. Two points do not a trend make. On the other hand every trend begins with two points. I will get my 9 month PSA results on Tuesday and am sweating already.

Let's hope that 0.02 was due to equipment noise or the result of Pattaya passion.

Hi Jeff  Most of the problems are in Bangkok although I hear that there was a demo. in Pattaya on Friday but it went on peacefully I do not live in Pattaya any more I have built and moved into a house in a place called Prachinburi it is about two and half hours away from both Pattaya and Bangkok although we still go to Pattaya once or twice a month I have restricted Internet access were I am now so although I look in here every day I do post very often

As I said in a reply to one of your messages I am not to sure how I am going to handle my PSA test any more I am not sure whether I will have any more take and just let what happens happen I do not think that I could handle  treatment  Radiation with a 5 hour return trip every day and by the time that I would be sure that it was a reoccurance I would be 66 years old and sometimes quality of life needs to be taken into account still that is looking into the future I know that I had an increase of 0.02 but it was over a 6 month period and talking to my doctor he would not look at doing anything until I reached 0.6 which I know is very high but they view things differently here in Thailand anyhow I am feeling a bit down at the moment things may look a bit different in a few weeks and I might have so different ideas by then

Colin,

Close only counts with hand grenades and horseshoes, so you are still in the zero club. Lots of legit reasons for flucactiosn in ultra sensitive testing. Hopefully, next time, it will either be the same or back down again. Good to hear from you.

Colin I remember your original diagnosis of 3+2=5 with only one core of 12 involved. Your post op pathology although upgraded slightly was also pretty good. I would not mind betting that seeing there was a very low PSA reading immediately post surgery that this is due to the nerve saving on one side (benign prostate tissue still attached). Given that, the very minor fluctuation of your two readings is not a cause for concern. I would continue to monitor it at the ultrasensitive level over the next year and watch what happens.
