AUS, penile implant still good...

I don't come here often any longer.  I remembered complaints while I did come often that guys get over this & never come back to give reports, so thought I'd give a report.

It's been over 20 months since I had the AMS Artificial Urinary Sphincter and the AMS CX penile implant.  Both devices are holding up very, very good.  Just thought I'd check in (in case anyone needed encouragement with these devices).

Gene- Your post is so timely!! Its as if.......I have been looking for threads about this for a few days now. My BF is so young and having a hard time with ED since surgery 6 mos ago. He is doing the Super Bimix because of bad reaction to Trimix and with 35cc, he still has ED issues intermittently. He does the injections 2x a week and will get 65-70% erections but one day here and there with no reaction whatsoever. When using the pump, then injection and keeping the medicine in penis, it seems to works the best. Today was a very bad daya for him. After 34 radiation treatments and being on HT since January, I feel it has taken its toll on him. There was no reaction at all today with injection. He was inconsolable and my heart broke for him!! I think its a combination of radiation, appt with ED dr this week suggesting getting an implant if issues go on another year from now. What led you to get the implant? Would you suggest a 45 yo to do implant from now? I want him to wait. Just because the injections do not work all the time does not mean it wont work some of the time. Gene-I appreciate any insight you can give me. If you need more info, please let me know.

Thank you Gene. I also noticed in that thread, some links regarding injections, ED. I will look at those as well and see if we can gain any insight. I've read other posts that men have tried viagra with injections, pump then injections. Maybe we just need to switch it up to see what works. Thank you again!

Smokie--- Thank you for your post. It seems that you waited 2 years until doing the implant. ED dr. told us that if nothing happens in a year, that he should consider. I feel that 2 yrs gives us more time to see if it gets better after radation is over and with hope, he can get off HT in 2 yers. Were you able to get any reaction with injections or pills? Your nerves were spared where he had to left bundle removed. Are his chances slimmer with only one nerve bundle? I am going to review the prior threads. Thanks again.

Hope and Prayer- the injections work with or without the nerve bundles. The drug acts on capillaries, veins, and valves, rather than nerve stimulation. It is strictly a plumbing solution, rather than a nerve one. So injections, if administered correctly and in the correct amount , should work in maybe 98% of men. It's taking the time finding the right combo that makes some men give up too quickly.
