Midi,
According to all the stats, the odds of you dying from PCa are small. More than a few guys here have made 5 year plans and then went on to live full lives.
Knowledge and organization will help you get things in perspective.
I'd get a notebook or file folder where you can put your info. Go to the library and read some books. Now that you have some stats the numbers will make more sense. Keep all your papers in one place. Take notes like you were studying for your finals.
This just became your most important job.
I hope you are able to make some sense out of all the comment and opinions posted here. We are not docs and have not examined you so our opinions are just that, opinions.
Maybe your Uro was suggesting the TURP just to give you immediate relief and he was not aware of all your stats. He might be trying to decide the treatment option based upon your scan data. Metastasizes or not.
The scan data will help with the decision. When will you get that? Days or months?
Ask him what he thinks about
a foley catheter to keep things flowing.
Ask what kind of treatment options he is considering.
Ask if he thinks you should see an oncologist.
My uneducated opinion is make the an appointment with an Oncologist now. The guys here have made some suggestions. When you call make sure to tell everyone you can that your PSA and Gleason scores. You will take the appointment at any time you need it ASAP. Let them know you have an immediate need.
Finally, (as if didn't already have enough to do), when you get a chance, update your signature here so guys reading your post will know the background. It helps you and the next guy out there following in your footsteps.
I wish you the best my friend.
Jeff
I wrote this before seeing Gleason7's response. At this point your priority is life, incontinence and then sex life. You need the first one before you can work on the last two. Don't wait.
