I think the last few comments are off the mark. I've read this whole thread, and the suggestions given to midi are somewhat contradictory, and often a bit off the mark. This is the internet, folks. It's inappropriate for someone to blindly take the advice of strangers who post on the internet. Posters here can give suggestions and ideas, but shouldn't be trying to direct someone's treatment. We aren't professionals. It seems like midi has a aggressive form of prostate cancer with lymph node and bone mets. He has a lot of pain because he needs to self cath to pass urine, and he has bone pain. He's also confused and frightened by his situation. Reasonable suggestions would be to get palative care so he can urinate, if possible to avoid difficult surgical treatments if they won't help, and get on appropriate systemic treatment, like hormonal treatment. His condition cannot be cured by surgery or radiation. His urologist has made the correct diagnosis. It's not entirely clear what his urologist's treatment plan is, although a TUR has been mentioned.
Seeing an oncologist, getting a second opinion are all reasonable suggestions. Telling him that there is an excellent chance that systemic treatment supervised by a oncologist can beat this disease back for a number of years will help him to accept his situation and go on and get the right treatment. Scolding him because he doesn't jump up and immediately follow suggestions posted here, or bashing his doctor, is not helpful.
