Continence--going backwards

Howdy:

We just returned from vacation. I thought my incontinence problems were pretty much resolved, but all of a sudden I am back to increased urgency/squirts. This started 2 days ago. We have been pretty active this week, going here and there and doing this and that. I did notice things got worse after having a bloody Mary.

I'm wondering if those of you who have become continent have also had similar setbacks?

Good morning compiler....I agree with Steve (normal). Gotta remember we no longer own the first line sphincter at the bladder. Activity has a lot to do with "drips". Since you had your prostatectomy done at Henry Ford I bet you received the questionnaire that asks the specific question of "how many dribbles a day" does one have. For me lifting something heavy, reaching / twisting, etc. just might present a dribble but for me certainly no reason for a pad. Coffee can be a problem! I have far fewer dribbles and great control mornings then afternoons. Have found that when I'm about to do something that might encourage a leak the Kegels kick in automatically.

74 years old - Henry Ford DiVinci 2/10/10 - Gleason 3+4=7 - five week PSA undetectable - gave up on pads totally about two months out.

Alcohol, which relaxes the body's muscles, was about the only thing that I noticed that caused me to have a temporary set-back...

I had a similar incident several months ago. I had a bloody mary with a lot of spices in it and started leaking. I haven't had another one since.

sharp, my same uro said the same thing about anything with caffine, any thing carbonated, and even included all fruit juices, as they tend to aggitate the bladder. if a person can stand it, they are better off with lots of pure water during the "drying" out time of recovery. its what i did back then.

I realize that we are all different, but I was a slow continence recoverer, it took 8 months, and after 13, I still squirt now and then, but it gets better every week.

I have a longstanding habit of drinking a large McDonalds coffee each morning. I have never had any leakage from that drink and I rarely leak until late in the day.

I have heard many guys post on here that alcohol can cause some leakage. Most of my leakage appears to be from fatigue, or awkward positions. Today I was able to carry an 80 pound object about 200 feet and up a flight of stairs without leaking. My personal best.
