I was diagnosed in March 2010, had da Vinci prostatectomy on June 3, catheter removed June 14. Biggest problems/surpises that I had were the gas pains after surgery and the following couple days. Then having my first bowel movement was a welcomed experience I would rather forget. After that, I have been pretty much pain free. I have recently developed back pains that I think are a side effect of the Viagra. I am going to cut out the Viagra to see if that helps (Dr. says I can). I was surprised that I had NO bladder control at first. I was encouraged by members in this forum that it would get better- it is, slowly. I am normal to leak when standing up from a seated position, also getting better. Hardly leak at all when lying down at night... a great thing. The most important thing is to BE PATIENT! Things take time and also don't be too active when you start to feel better. I wore myself out because I thought I was getting more energy. You (we) will all be fine after time. I wish you the best of luck and good health.
