Wow David. I have been AWOL for quite awhile and just updated myself on your journey. I was sad to hear that it is still ongoing. Hopefully there is a solution that will get you back to some kind of normal here. My wish is for that to happen quickly. In the meantime, I am so impressed with your courage and stamina throughout this ordeal. Many would not be able to talk about it or get through it as well as you and your wife have. Good on you both.

I have been well and have no leaks to speak of. Recently I took a 30 hour course in Palliative Care Volunteering and am now spending some time each week at long term care facilities in my town visiting with terminally ill patients. Thus, I have been off this list and trying to do some normal stuff. So far so good. Met a lot of amazing people who have wonderful stories to share. It does put your own problems in perspective when you spend time with these amazing patients.

Bill, that's a good thing you are doing with your volunteer work. In spring of 2009, when I have mostly recovered from my open surgery, long before I had all these complications and before I had radiation, I did volunteer work at the facility where my wife works as a nurse. It felt good at the time when I was doing it. When I am well enough again, might go back and do some more. Best way to help yourself, is to help someone else.
