Sorry to hear about your hip pain. Hopefully your Dr. will be able to help you with that quickly. With your initial numbers, I would think it very unlikely that mets are the cause. However, perhaps a bone scan would remove any doubts. What are your latest PSA numbers?

The first piece of advice is that if you are worried -- share it with your doctor. A good doctor would always want to deal with a problem sooner rather than later.

Given what I have read, it is unlikely that your pain is associated with the spread of your PCa (Metastasis) Mets are generally associated with much higher levels of PSA. You don't say if the pain has continued but if it it has not, what you had was probably related to the surgery. Remember that among other insults to the inside of your body they pump you full of CO2 -- a kind of balloon effect to give them more space to work. The gas can persist in odd places for several weeks. Also remember that while on the table you are tilted in a head down position -- something your body isn't used to.

P.S. My use of "geezer" is ironic I hope not to be ready for "geezerhood" for another 20 years.

Thanks for the many encouraging messages. Some of you asked for more information regarding the post-op path reports. They were clear. Also, the pre-op CT Scan and Bone Scans were negative except for a couple of enlarged lymph nodes near the prostate which were removed during the surgery. They were also clear. Margins were clear as well. My 6 week post-op PSA count was <0.01 (Whew!!!) I have the next test scheduled for 8/30.  

It is always good to interact with folks dealing with the same issues. Thanks for providing an excellent forum for sharing information and providing support.
