I'm also quite ignorant about
SS disability, so perhaps you can all enlighten me. I am 64 years old and still working. I love what I do and so far I haven't had a single PC symptom (well, not quite true since the surgery is no picnic and this is not great for one's emotional well being, but you get my point: employment-wise I am fine).
But suppose I have to undergo srt and things go bad and I can't work. My question is: what benefit is SS? In 2 years I will reach "regular" retirement age. My pre-PC plan was to work as long as I enjoy working and look forward to working. PC has made me rethink things. I may still have the same attitude or I might want to try something else in 2 years, and draw regular full SS benefits. If at that time I am disabled, what additional benefits would I get from SS disability. I know it might allow me to stop working before I am 66 and draw full regular SS benefits as if I was 66. Is that correct?
But once I am 66, is there any additional benefit?
This is a great topic.
