Fairwind, sorry about your path report. From the little I know fo your history, I realize that this disease has a fighter on it's hands. Good thoughts and prayers going your way for the next few months..

Not much happens until that first post-op PSA test..Six weeks of doing more research..I will have the pathology report in my hand Monday (Cath out!) so I can go over it with a fine tooth comb..

Good luck on getting the cath out, of my 21 caths, 7 of them are foleys through the penis, and not one of them ever hurt. just feel creepy. unfortunately, most of the SP caths I have had removed, hurt terribly bad, but that is the result of all the radiation damage in my cath, not because of the cath itself.

When you get that report, if you care to share some of the detail with us, we would be interested.

Hoping despite your path, that you at least get the courtesy of joining the Zero Club on the first pass.

Fairwind, you have such a positive attitude that comes through clearly. That is going to be huge as you continue down this darn bumpy road.

Yeah....A month or two (or three) on the zero club would be great...Might make it down to Mexico by Christmas yet...That's really the key here, achieving zero and staying there as long as possible....It's a tough nut for us G-9 guys...

Fairwind, you'll do just fine. Keep the sombrero handy for that trip down to Old Mexico.

I noticed in another thread Geezer99 had positive margins with a 4+3=7 path report and he has managed to stay "zero" for 18 months without further treatment..

fairwind, that is the ficklness of PC in a nutshell. we have guys with great pathology, that end up with quick recurrance, and guys with poor pathology, that stay for long periods of zeros. doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason.

Thanks guys..David, you will love this one...The NP (a male) goes over my Path report, we chat about a few things, activity limits, exercise, that sort of thing.. Then he has me drop 'em and sit on the edge of the table, stuffs a couple of towels under the whacker..he pulls out the water from the balloon with a big syringe, I could feel it going down..Finished with that, he says hold on to the edge of the table and look at that spot up on the ceiling...zzzZZZZip and it was out, Whew! A few minutes later and I was out of there too.

Oh, Fairwind - I am so sorry to hear the results of your pathology report.  Please stay strong; you have a good support system here.  Did you get a response from Geezer 99?  May all those with this type of result fight the 'monster' and win.  Judy, special hugs coming your way for M.

I am sorry about your pathology report. I suggest you read about Michael Milkin's battle with PC.  He has survived 15 years after he had been given a dire prognosis.  I am convinced the right doctors make all the difference.

As a relative newbie, I look for certain posters for many reasons - knowledge, comfort, attitude, feisty-ness. This one was one I did not want to see from someone I read often for all the above reasons. You have all the above attributes, Fairwind, and you'll make your own "magic".

fairwind, as the consiseur of catheters here at HW, I have found this the best method for a cath removal:

and this pertains to foley caths only, through the penis, not the suprapubics that i have had all these months.

the doctor would have me stand up, he would lay down some absorbent paper on the floor by my feet. the real trick, is for them to slowly release the fluid in the balloon. If it emptys too quickly , you can feel some mild pain or discomfort. then, while still standing, just a gentle pull, and the nasty slimy snake drops to floor by gravity.

my wife has removed a few of mine that way, under dr's orders, while i am standing in the shower stall. never had one hurt me that way.

Fair, so glad the cath is out and it wasn't so bad... M had 105 when his cath was taken out and didn't feel a thing! We are right here with you and looking to a long journey but one where the more we know the more we can move forward with confidence!
