Well, I'm deeply disappointed. Doc injected a higher dose of the caverject this afternoon - .7 mg this time, and the response was about the same as before. A little swelling, but definitely a no show. Within a couple of minutes it was like nothing had happened. We're talking wet noodle here, and between his schedule and mine it's tough to get together. Either he's out of town or I am. So I wind up with weeks between appt's. My impatience is showing.

Doc is thinking about trimix next time.

You'll be happier financially if Trimix works. Caverject is a little pricey.

kbota, I think you are expecting too much way too soon. Since you had your surgery in July, you are still in the early stages of healing. Am I right? You are a relatively young guy so I know it must be frustrating, but my suggestion is to let time have a chance to heal you more. I'm one year post-op and I'm just starting to regain erections. Try to have some patience as difficult as that must be for you. I wish you good health.

Thanks Red, and you're probably correct, but patience has never been my strong suit. :-)

I really don't feel that I'm in the early stages of healing. I feel as if I'm past the healing part. As far as physical activity, I'm doing whatever I want to do whenever I need to do it. I have no pain issues at all, and only a little constipation as a reminder of the surgery. I feel that I'm completely healed up, and ready to get on with life.

I have read of other fellows who waited a year after surgery before working on the ED issues. I cannot find a reason to delay that.

The viagra type drugs will not help me because both nerves were lost during surgery. I have a VED ordered and it should be in tomorrow....and two failed injection attempts. If these things don't work, I guess an implant is my only other option.

Or just give up on sex altogether.........<not even a good thought>

Anyway, maybe you are right, and I thank you for the good wishes.

All I want is a good wood.

You are doing amazingly well and I congratulate you. Since your nerves were not able to be spared, you are probably right to try to get things going now. Let us know how the VED contraption worked out for you. I've been tempted to pay a visit to a sex shop and buy a cheap one for the heck of it.

You are still in the "healing window". I was not able to do much of anything for a couple of months. I am 11 months out, and still have incontinence issues, probably worsened by IGRT. My uro/surgeon put me on Cialis 5mg/day and a pump about 3 months out from DaVinci - he claims that when the nerves are taken (as were mine), that you should be interested in rehab to protect from atrophy, not expecting erections (there has been no sign of life for me). We have an appt. end of year to consider an implant.

The pump is scary. Gets me where I was before, but hit the button, and it is gone. Not even enough time to deal with the bands.

I have not given up hope yet, but may be going bionic for Christmas.

You and a few others have remarked at times about your lack of success with the VED pump. But I can't help but notice that it seems you(s) are trying to put the rings on AFTER you take the tube off -- or something like that. That ain't the way it works you know. Rings (using two is best)) go on the tube and then slip em on during full pump up and only THEN hit the button etc etc.
And don't forget to shave all the hair off before and use some astro-gel or equivalent for a good seal.

(Also I know some pump cylinders come with adjusting rings that fit into/around the tube to
make a better seal. I don't use those on the Encore pump so I am not sure if maybe that effects ring placement or not?).

Am I reading your operations incorrectly or not??

Ok, I have been using a VED off and on since my surgery. Do not waste the money on one from a sex shop. They are flimsy and usually wear out within months. You need to get a Medicare approved one from online or a pharmacy.

I will reiterate about the shaving and use of KY Jelly or something equivalent. Without a good seal, the pumps are useless.

Both Levitra and Trimix work for me, but I still use a pump every so often to keep things stretched out.

I have to disagree with HB2006 about the cheep sex shop version.. I have the $$$ medical pump and it does work but very heavy. I use the sex shop version just to streach things out and make me look like my pre surgery self. I can pump it up and keep it there while I shower. K I hope the next test does the job. I agree with you if checial inhanced sex does not work then then next step is implant.

Well, I've played with the VED pump a few times now. Actually I'm a little sore from it. First experience was disappointing, but then I started learning about the rings. I acknowledge that I have only used it a couple of days. What I see at this juncture is that yes, it makes me larger, but the penis is not firm enough for penetration.

I hope that aspect improves over time.

Has anyone used the pump prior to the injection? In other words, get the blood moving, then inject? Does it make sense that that would help?

Just wondering what others have done to make things work.

The last usable erection I had was the morning of my surgery; July 21. A date that will be long remembered. Wife and I put the last one to good use. he he

K, I almost always use the pump the plump things up before I inject. I think it helps me hit the right spot. :)

I went ahead and put a deposit on the exam room for an extra hour..... (pro'ly be done in fifteen minutes.) (but I wont care.)

Ok, I stand corrected on the sex shop pumps, some of them may be all right. The one I prefer, I got from www.fitzz.com. It was $225, battery operated and came with three different sized cylinders. They do not require a prescription.

Btw, I always use it before I inject with Trimix. How long of a needle are you using? I was on the 5/16 inch 31 gauge size until I had some "no shows". As soon as I switched to 1/2 inch 29 gauge, everything was fine again.

I did the self injections for a couple of months and never very satisfied.   I am using the Osbon Vacuum pump with the penis rings and it works okay.

It takes a little getting used to because you can overpump and then with the rings, there is some loss of feeling.  If you pump the erection to a normal hardness and use the right rings (experiment a little) it works good.  My wife is satisfied and I usually am also.

The Osbon (Timms) can be had for $500 with prescription or you can get the classic on ebay for $150 (without prescription)  There are several type of rings you can use dependent on size of your penis and type of restriction needed.   The rings are about $18/each but are reusable and can last some time.

I have the Osbon from TIMMS Medical, but for rehab I use the Firemans Friend pump. You can find it on E-bay.

I am still just getting used to the contraption - not yet ready for the rings. It was the instant (and I mean instant) complete collapse that got my attention. Really demoralizing.

The Osbon pump had a price increase mid-year - was $545 plus shipping for the manual version when I got mine a couple of months back.

Interesting pump "behavoir" - the pump sucks out a fair amount of urine at the first hit, even after I though it was beyond empty. They tell you that the wrong lubricant voids the warranty - wonder about the urine?

Have the Osbon "Esteem" (Ha! Nice marketing try on the name, huh?). Be sure to invest in their deluxe ring - large 2.5" dia. clear silicone with little handles for removal - prevents your scrotal tissue from being sucked into the device. HIGHLY recommended! Works great with practice, but woody is cool & bluish.
Doc prescribed Trimix- 30 units (less than 1/3cc.) and I ended up in the ER with the dreaded PIAPISM! LOTS of pain. Woody went down w/o intervention after 6 hours with IV injections of morphine (didn't work) then Dilaudid (did!). BUMMER. Will try 15 units next time, but if Trimix is painful again, may try Bimix. Had a radical via laparoscopy 18 May - non-nerve sparing. Test last week showed my PSA as "undetectable." Doc says to wait up to 2 yrs for an implant- after injections stop working. Advice?
