David, I've just read your 6:46 p.m. report and want to cheer you on. The key is that you are calm and peaceful and passive. As far as I'm concerned that's exactly the right place to be right now. And when you note it's a long haul recovery, and that it's a baby step process, I think you've got strategy aced.

And being done with loratabs with no ill effects is fantastic news. Congratulations!

David, as I've said before, you are THE man. Good on you.

David, it is good to hear from you.  Ron asks about your recovery, so I keep him informed.  This has been quite a journey for you and may the coming weeks and months get you to exactly what you want.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.  May you have peace in your life.

Slow steady progress is what it boils down to.

I'm guessing the bladder spasms are all gone too are they?

Coming off pain relief the way you have may not have put you through cold turkey, but I'd guess your body is still noticing their absence, hence maybe the back pain.

I hope the PT will help get things better on the mobility front. Things like dizziness after so much inactivity/resting, fever etc are common. Heart and BP get messed up a bit don't they. I know you'll work on it one day at a time and not try for quantum leaps. (A case of: God give me patience, but for God's sake give it me right now!)

Hope you find some good bags soon and I'm guessing that for all the difficulties they might in a way be a bit easier than all those @#$%^ catheters.

I can understand the legal step and thinking carefully makes me say no further comment about it.

Nice to hear from you, man. Sounds like it's gonna be a long process, but you're progressing as quickly as can be expected. I admire you greatly for your perserverance.

thanks, lady and gents.

with the wife driving of course, had 1st real outing today. ate a little at a resturant we like, and attempted to go grocercy
shopping, made it about halfway through the store, had to call it quits and sit on a bench. most walking i have done
in nearly 6 weeks. this is all about baby steps.

from my outing yesterday, still very sore, can feel it at the back of my legs
home nurse comes tommorow, PT person comes Friday for 2nd session this week.

fighting a little minor depression, second cloudy day here, always seems to get me down, could
never live in seattle or some place like that. biggest problem is boredom, not much i can do
physically to stay busy. you get sick of tv, reading, crossword puzzles, etc. i still spend many
long hours alone. my mind is never healthy when bored for long. tried building a model, but
dont seem to have the right kind of patience to do that, lol.

many things i could do around home, but with a 5 lbs max weight limit, most are off limits to me.
still getting a tiny bit better each day. so not really complaining

Hope you can beat the boredom.

I'm really glad one of my main hobbies is researching my family tree (and my wife's) so it is largely based around sitting at a PC. (It's part puzzle, part detective work, part studying history and occasionally you get in touch with relatives you never knew you had who are doing the same thing from a different direction.)

That said I don;t really like getting stuck in a rut, and I admit I sometimes wish I owned a small forest and could go into it with an axe and vent by cutting down a few trees (while wetting myself no doubt from the exertion.) But this autumn another thing I have been doing, which is kind of therapeutic, is to rake leaves. (A never ending task at present, which you can repeat everyday; it gets you out doors; you can take it at whatever pace you like it's not too strenuous and you can always lean on the rake most of the time if that's all you can manage!)

Are you sleeping better, or is it a case of being too worn out, but not sleepy? I have started having a very short walk in the evenings. (Very short!) it seems to help, especially if my guts are going wrong from too much sitting.

Glad that as a Brit that cloudy weather doesn't make me depressed. (Must explain why a friend of my Mum's was happy emigrating to Seattle!)
No such thing as bad weather it's only ever a case of the wrong clothes.

Hope the nurses do some good.

Progress is progress, take it as it comes.

I counted it as progress after RT when I stopped getting worse, so maybe I'm not the best cheerleader, but hang in there!

alf - case of being wore out all the time, but rarely sleepy. lucky to get 4-5 hours sleep, even with Ambien. Not able to take any walks by
myself outside, a bit dangerous at this time with all my dizzy spells.

142 - thanks my friend, say hey to mom for me. i may peek at chat tonight if i feel up to it. best part of this ordeal: no bladder spasms, no penile pain, no bladder and bladder neck pain, no need at this time to be on pain killers in nearly a year. getting use to having a perm. stoma takes some getting use to, mentally and physically. my bladder has been shut down for life. this surgery was a tough decision to make, much tougher than having my prostate removed, but someone would have to relate to the level of intense pain i suffered daily the previous 11 months to understand.

on the plus side, despite 8 ops in 23 months, 2 months of blotched radiation, and what i am going through now , can still achieve full and natural errections on demand. not that i am well enough to entertain sex at the moment. and this is on one set of nerves, how or why i never had a single day of Ed baffles me and the doctors. but not complaining

David so pleased to see you are posting a bit more. I have not been reading the post figured that it was just us guys wishing you well. Sounds like you are making a good step forwad. An outing is always good. Glad to hear Peg took you out to dinner. Heck I have not had surgery and someitme when Pat is makeing groceries (as we say in New Orleans) I go to the Ft of the store and have a seat as well.

So good to see your post. Should I send you some peacans for you to crack and shell. That will keep you busy.
