I am not around really at all anymore, but I thought that for those who struggling, that things can go well. My psa was up, my core sample were nearly cancerous and my post surgery gleason was either and 8 to 9.

I am now 3 years out and at the last check my psa was 0.
So keep on fighting and beating cancer.

It would be great if the blokes with higher Gleason scores could post more often ......... it is invaluable for the new members who come on board with more serious biopsy results to see there are indeed very positive stories out there. That is some seriously good and encouraging news you've posted and I wish you many more zeros in the future.

It definitely helps hearing good news stories. Cancer seems to get portrayed as a death sentence in the media when those affected know better. Hopefully one day a cancer diagnosis will be as frightening as a common cold.

Another word of hope.
Another 6 months have passed---now over 3 1/2 years and still cancer free. There are miracles still for the high gleason boys.
Keep your chin up--even if other things don't work.

Other news is not as good. I have had a lung disease for 35 years from a silo incident on the farm. My lungs have finally gone south and I am on ox all the time. I am in the process of moving off my mountain to a lower elevation and as I have been the primary caregiver for my wife for about 5 years now, have had to move to where there is more assistance with her. It is my hope that getting a couple thousand feet lower will allow me to get back to an active productive life.

On the good new side, my now 21 year old son is doing very well after coming down with a malignant brain tumor last June. He had a baseball sized tumor removed and had chemo and radiation. The brain damage is manageable and he hopes to return to college soon. Drs are using the "remission" word for him.

So things are great.

Oldfordlover: Thanks for your post. I am three months out from RRP with a gleason 9, which is scary stuff. It's great to hear from success stories. I allow myself to get down fairly often thinking my future will not be pleasant. Your success allows me to have real hope.

Wow you have been hammered a few times. It is great to read your son is on the mend and recovered well from such a serious operation. Here's to him getting back to college and doing well there. All things being equal you should find it much easier to breath at a lower altitude which will make you feel a whole lot better. My best wishes for you and the family.
