My unique history

I have a unique history that I would like to share.  I have been going to Mayo Clinic for an annual physical for a lot of years.  My twin brother had prostate cancer. Tthe doctor said my prostate felt enlarged.  I asked him to do a biopsy, but he said not necessary.  The following year, they did a bioposy, and found gleason 9, and in my lymph nodes, with a psa of only2.3.

 

Mayo did surgery, and took out my prostate and testicles out.  This was Sep 4, 1094 -- 16 years ago.  I have never had a rise in my psa -- still less than .01.  I have been very aggressive in my treatment plan.  My twin brother, also gleason 9, but only as far as his semilnal vessles.  But he passed awa6 about 6 years ago.  He was not as aggressive in his treatment plan.

 

So the point I would like to make, is to encouage those with a high gleason, and see no hope.  Just don't give up, and keep living your life the best you can.  Things will never be the same, but you can make the best of it, and keep on keeping on.

many people that has been cancer free for many years for one reason or other do not bother to post

and we only most of the time get the news of many recurance early after surgery of treament.

you are the fiveth person I know with so many year cancer free.I hope I keep cancer free and also
