You guys have always been helpful, so I have another question I would like your input on. I seem to suffer from loss of patience since my procedures. I thought it was nothing but it seems it has worsened. I get agitated more easily with my wife even though I know she is my biggest supporter. I also have a hard time waiting on almost anything. Has/does anyone else had/have this problem? Any suggestions to improve this? Thanks to all replies. Just had another PSA test a couple of weeks ago, still at 0.004

May I ask why you had HT and radiation in addition to the surgery?

I'm wondering if this anxiety is a SE of the HT?

If so, perhaps there is some appropriate medication (Xanax?)

If you think its either anxiety or mild depression, talk to your GP about it first, plenty of low level meds that could help you take the edge off. I know we don't want to snap at those we love and those that are helping us.

After my robotic prostatectomy on Oct. 26, 2010 I was given a psa test a month later which came back .3 and my uro started me on Lupron. I will start RT in about a month. Personally I thought this was rather soon but who was I to argue with the Dr. In any event I have become more emotional and find I don't have the patience I had before taking this medication. Thank goodness I have not experienced night sweats like some guys have. From what I have read on the HT subject these are just side effects of the drug. The best of luck to you in your journey. You are definitely among friends.

i take a subclinical dose of celexa for hot flashes which worked pretty well until recently (so i think).  what celexa also did was put my emotions in check early on -- i didn't feel like i wanted to die all the time, and i could talk about my disease without getting choked up.  my wife participates in a forum for women with men who have prostate cancer.  she says many of the guys on lupron become emotionally detached nags.  i've actually become closer to my wife and we spend more time together.  maybe the celexa helped there too?

i was talking to my wife this morning about tapering off celexa because my testosterone is slowly returning and i am now having hot flashes anyway.  she said she thinks the drug is helping more than i think and i should wait at least until i get the first definitive PSA test -- around june.  i think that's what i'll do because kicking the drug would create a whole new set of issues from what i read and i really am doing very well now.

Thanks guys. This is one place I know I can count on for experienced input.

Compiler: I just followed my doctors' advice. They (2 Urologist, 1 Oncologist) told me because mine was so aggresive that they wanted to try to kill off any stray cells.

It is the drugs they have wonderful effects. Fallcrop looking at your stats they don't look all that omnious. Seems like you got the trifecta of protocols...my questions antenna popped up, but I will keep quiet. Best to you.

I am thinking that your post op Gleason was worse than the biopsy?

I did DaVinci and IGRT, with no HT.

My "mental state" is a little different. I am probably a lot more patient with most things, and infinitely more understanding of people with problems.

However, I have lost all sense of pretending to have patience with people who knowingly waste my time - people selling magazines door to door & carpet cleaning on the phone and cable tv are right up at the top of the list (and they catch it from me), then useless meetings at work - I decline most now. I feel like I have a more finite set of resources than I did before, so I am less likely to tolerate that sort of thing.
