My surgery was January 20th of 2009 and I had been using 1 or 2 pads for the last 11 months. I had the male Sling (Advance) installed at the University of Chicago on 11/30 and I am DRY. I had some retention issues for the 1st 2 weeks after surgery but I was taught how to self cath myself and now I am over this retention issue. My bladder now seems to be working properly. I also developed a UTI but I am now over this also after about 20 pills. I now cough, sneeze, get up and move around and I am DRY. The only issue I seem to still have is an urge issue (got to go now) and a frequency issue. I drink a lot of coffee during the day and I'm going to start cutting back on this. I'm hoping this will cure with time or with drugs. If you are only using 1 or 2 pads a day, i think the Male Sling will work for most of you. Anybody have any success with urge or frequency issues (Drugs?) My normal doctor suggested Detrol LA 4mg or oxybutynin 10mg but my surgeon suggested holding off on these for a while until everything is properly healed (about 6 weeks) Take care everyone.

Congratulations, RFP. Sounds like a sucess so far. I was on Oxybutynin (Ditropan) for nearly 2 years steady for a different reason, and while it may help what ails you in the short term, my dr. said it can make the bladder lazy, and interfere with its normal working. In my case, there was no choice. Sounds like you are doing great.

Congrats. Looks like you're doing well. The six weeks shoule be up any day now so maybe the pills will help.

Congratulations! That's the kind of info I like to hear!
I had mine put in yesterday and for the first time in 18 months I woke up with dry underwear! Sadly, it was because I'm on a catheter that should be removed today.
It sure was nice to have a morning cup of coffee today.
I think I'll have a glass of water too - because I can! Woohoo!

All, thanks for responding to my post. I'm feeling much better about myself these days. DRY is great!!! The male sling rules.
