Klains,
Your husband sounds much like myself. Cake ------ I'd have a slice, Mmmm, that was nice, better have some more. Biscuits were the same and I did like sweet pastries. I was forced to abandon them though when I developed gluten intolerance at a mature age. Quite a few years ago I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes so in a way I guess the gluten intolerance forced me into a relatively low carb diet. about
the only way to constrain glucose levels in pre-diabetes or diabetes is to adopt a low glycemic index diet ------ eating foods that when being digested increase the blood glucose levels very slowly. Problem is they are usually not sweet and if that is your taste then only artificial sweeteners are the answer. They are much decried and can indeed be harmful but the amounts that have to be consumed to cause such harm are truly huge.
Bill
Mira,
Do stay with us ------ we actually are very nice people
. I think you may be missing the central theme of some of the comments. If there is one thing we come to learn on Healingwell it is to question, question, question. Question your diagnosis, question the results and what it means and question the treatment options offered. There is big money in health and its associated products so there is much vested interest in perpetuating a lot of myths as facts. Now I don't for a minute think it's O.K. to consume more than a little refined sugars (unless your are dealing with diabetes when of course it's a no no) but that "sugar feeds cancer " has run its course. As far as the peanuts are concerned you are right. They can indeed have a fungus that produces an Aflatoxin (Sp?) that is very dangerous and peanut crops have maximum allowable permitted level.
Now, colonic irrigation anyone??
