Anyone treated at MSK in New York willing to share your experience?

I assume from your post that you primary interest is in the experience with MSK, not with PC or other related issues.
I don’t have any experience with MSK, but regardless, I hope you are doing well. If you do have any other interest about other PC related questions, please let us know. There is a lot of folks on this site that can provide a lot of good information.

Interested in prostate cancer treatment experience and outcome at MSK

Diagnosed 12/2010  Gleason 6 in 1 of 12 cores  PSA 5.3 Age 53

Trying to make a decision between robotic surgery, brachytherapy, Active surveillance

Looking for any feedback you guys can offer to help with decision

I had my salvage prostatectomy at MSK in March 2008. The care and attention I received from my initial consultation in January 2008 through June 2008 when I was referred to the Cleveland Clinic for further treatments was top rate. The fact that they recognized that MSK wasn't the best place for my reconstructive surgery and recommended Cleveland Clinic goes a long way in my book.

Obviously, I can't say enough good things about my experience there.

I did a great deal of research prior to my DaVinci.  MSK was near the top in ratings. However, I did not go there, as Cleveland is closer, and almost rated as well as Sloan by U.S. News.

If you are near NYC, shop around. MSK is good. But lots of docs are good. They all do good jobs. just go with the package that resonates with you - gives you confidence, etc. I LOVED my time at MSK. They treat you well. I know it sounds crazy, but it's just a first class place in every way...even as a socio-economic demography. but did not have surgery there. But that was insurance stuff. Am I sorry? not at all. had a good doc. great outcome.

I had my surgery at MSK in Aug 2008. The Dr I used is no longer with them. Overall I had a very positive experience. I got the feeling that they really cared. I have only the best things to say.

Just keep in mind that, in my opinion, the Dr has a much greater impact on your health than the institution he works for.

Overall I was very pleased with both.

I had my surgery at MSK in October 29th 2009.

The care I got was first rate. My PSA has been zero since I had my prostate removed.
I was continent almost immediately and my ED improves daily and everything is great with 25 or 50 mg of Viagra.

I could not ask for a better experience or a better outcome. EVERYONE I came in contact with there is WONDERFUL.

I considered going to Sloan but live on eastern Long Island. I was concerned that the trip back and forth would wear on my wife. I also considered the possibility of post-surgical complications and the difficulty of going back into NYC while dealing with an urgent problem. I finally opted for surgery closer to home with a doctor who has done ~350 RP's.
